Re: Norwich to Istanbul departing Sunday 22nd July 2012

depends on how far you want to go in a day. I did avaerage 100km a day and it took 40 days with a couple of full rest days and some afternoons off.

Re: can anyone update regards bikes and airlines?

just flown Easyjet back from Istanbul. Used CTC polybag with no problems. Also easy to carry. Put all my luggage in a large (very light) laundry bag and gaffer taped it up. Hey presto one luggage bag!

Re: Norwich to Istanbul departing Sunday 22nd July 2012

Martin, just cycled from Lowestoft to Istanbul. Route fine but suggest if you have time to go a bit further on the Eurovelo 6 up to Turnu Magurele on the Romanian side of the Danube. Then cut across to Burgas on the coats. Follow the E 87 south and up to Malko Tarnovo. The climb is not difficult. The last 9 KM is long though. Border is clear and easy. Then fly down 41 Km to Kirkareli. plenty of places to stay. Then follow thge D020 and then the D010 (check it on Google Maps) you avoid the nightmare road. You can get on this road through the Edirne border as well. You come into Istanbul through the North route. I was concerned by the posts about cycling in Istanbul but was suprised by how easy it was on this route.
Don't miss Romania, it was fantastic, people really friendly and welcoming. It will be really hot from Serbia onwards. Have fun

Re: can anyone update regards bikes and airlines?

there is supposed to be a picture on the easyjet website of a bike in a CTC polybag. I can't find it. Anyone got the pic and could download it?

Any recommendations for cycling the Danube past Budapest. Is it better to take the Romanian side or the Bulgarian?

Euro 6 Budapest to Black Sea

does anyone have any info on the section of the Euro 6 from Budapest to the Black Sea? I'm going in June. Also has anyone gone from Constanta to Istanbul by a cycling route?
