Re: 700c commuter wheels

If you can get to a decathlon store, you can get a brand new back wheel that would do what you need for around thirty quid

Re: Stunning and rare 1950 Thanet Silverlight - rideable cla

Point well made on the ebay link. Good luck with the sale. Personally, I think it's 'utter nonsense' to jump in and throw offensive comments around when you clearly haven't got a clue what you're talking about. couldn't agree more. On the flip side, I personally think that its sad that the days of ...

Re: Legal question re. sheds and bike storage

I think youre right to be concerned about the impact of any dispute on the sale of the flat. As the sale progresses, you will be required to detail any disputes with neighbours. whilst it is only verbal, you could deny any dispute, as there is no trace. Should the dispute become paper-based then the...

Re: anyone remember name of those one piece 'bar ends' for mtb??

I'm not that familiar with butterflies, going on a bit of memory. Can you not invert them, so the non-clamped bit goes up and away at the stem, rather than nearer? what about time trial areo clip ons to stretch you out? if you need some older big curve bar ends try http://www.retrobike.co.uk. They s...

no they were straights with built-in bar ends (one piece) bit like a lo pro road bar.

the OP's were more like a full loop.

Would butterfly bars give enough positions?

Re: Shimano A530 Pedals – Reflectors Question

which are the A530's? I bought some of the cheapest shimano SPD pedals (the narrow double sided ones) which came with clip in reflectors. So the underside has the reflector attached and the top side your foot is attached. If this is what you want, let me know, you can have them as I dont need them.

Re: Problems with Shimergo

interesting ! I too have shimano shifter with chorus (circa 2004 shifters - the last of the pre carbon ones) and have no problems. However, I understand the latest ultrashift ones are made with a lighter action. Could it be this that is causing the problem. I was considering buying some, but may hol...

Re: York Rally kids facilities

if you go and she wants to enter the kiddies races on the arena, dont rely on programme times, as they sometimes get altered on the day to cater for weather and/or over/under runs on other events. Keep yourself in proximity for a swift line up. We missed it once and kids were disappointed esp as the...

Re: Campagnolo

I have a Chorus Triple 53/42/30 with a Centaur 10sp cassette 13-29. Superb! All the ratios I want. I can whizz along the flat and downhill too, and climb the steepest of hills. (and we do have hills round here!) I don't listen to people that say it's wrong. They don't know me or my legs! My setup i...

His claim for injuries should be reduced

Here's a local story of a pedestrian who suffered head injuries after being hit by a car. I reckon any claim for compensation should be reduced cos he wasnt waering a helmet. (OK - I dont really think that; I feel sorry for the fella), but after reading about a similar case involving a cyclist (migh...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

I had an Indy 500, too! I rode so many miles on it. If I remember correctly, that blue frame is a lovely pearlescent/metallic finish, almost like enamel rather than paint. Mine never scratched. I sold it in the early 80s, but then heard that the seat tube cracked in the vicinity of the bottom brack...

Trailer Bike Setup

Ive got an early islabikes rack mounted trailer bike. when I set it up initially, the pivot was vertically behind the hub of my bike. I understand this was wrong, so now have it as far forward as poss and the pivot is in front of my hub, the rationale being that the closer the weight is to the centr...
