Re: Bicycle only
I own car but I'm down to about 500 miles a year and that includes a busy working life (for which a car, accordng to everyone else who does my work is an absolute essential). I've replaced the car with a combination of bike and train with a folder for the train. I live in easy distance of a railway...

Re: Cead mile failte - we love Ireland!
One of my favourite rides is along the coast of the southern edge of Belfast Lough and down the eastern edge of the Ards Peninsula. Starting at Hollywood there is a tarmac path around the coast all the way to Bangor. From Bangor there is a quiet urban route along the coast to Groomsport and a flat ...

Re: RE: Re: What Can Be Done to Increase Participation?
Why do members choose not to participate? Because I like riding alone. Maybe I'm not the only one who likes riding alone? Me too Whats needed is something to get members there just once and hopefully some will like it and turn up regularly. So, once every 8 weeks people who have never come on a rid...

I'm a trendy consumer. Just look at my SM-A300FU using hovercraft full of eels.

Re: British Cycling reaches 125,000 members milestone
The Cycling UK forum is rarely seen by National Office as a suitable outlet for offical communications from Cycling UK :( . So if you would like to know Paul Tuohy's views on the matter as it relates to Cycling UK you'll have to read them here  . And I agree with everything he says. Good for ...

Re: The Rebrand is Essential to our Future
I like the fact that 'Cycling UK' seems very active on social media (I only use Twitter so find CUK campaigning presence there helpful). I like the fact it seems to have engaged across broader issues (e.g. Rides of Way campaign most recently). It feels more like LCC but at a more national level. Als...

Re: Cycling UK AGM : 13th May 2017 : London
Ok, so reading this thread has cleared my confusion up (it does need to be clearer IMO) and have now voted online using Chair as my proxy. Another point I'd just like to make is that Special Resolution 5 was bundled up and I do not think it should have been. I would have voted for increasing petitio...

Re: Cycling UK AGM : 13th May 2017 : London
Just as an observation, I have voted by post, but I found the ballot paper quite confusing. It seemed very keen to get you to vote by proxy and wasn't very clear (to me at any rate) what to do if you just wanted to vote in advance (e.g. wasn't at all clear if I should sign the form or whether I only...

Re: DEMAND FOR A POLL OF THE WHOLE CLUB
Well I am pleased there is now to be a vote. My main beef has been with the way the nature of the original club has been seemingly subverted by a small group of people. In terms of whether CTC needed to change to survive and grow to reach out to more people I think there is a valid argument. I think...

Re: Don't mention the CUK
To clarify further, I don't interpret £10,000 as being the total costs and would agree it relates to unanticipated expenditure. I feel the rebrand process has proved considerably more complex than Council had originally anticipated. Was it time and money well spent? I'm sure there are a broad range...

Re: The Rebrand is Essential to our Future
Mick, et al, I asked you, very politely, to reserve negative comments for elsewhere. Otherwise you're effectively filibustering people who want to have a positive conversation. I've no objection at all to your complaints, in fact i think they are very valuable, but would also like freedom to contin...

Re: Don't mention the CUK
I didn't realise the abbreviation of the new brand was an insult: is that somehow karmic ? :) Yes, I believe it must be. You guys CUK. Hey, we CUK! Maybe Gaz can tell us how much this invigorating, exciting re-brand cost, that has transformed a respected organisation into an insult, or point us to ...

Re: Proxy vote
Hi, I'm looking to send in my vote. I need to nominate a proxy so that all other items do not become additional chairman votes. Anyone going? WHAT CAN YOU DO? Go to AGM 2016 If you are unable to go your voting paper is on the back of the address label of the Cycle magazine. You can appoint me as yo...

Re: The slippery slope continues
I just wanted my disappointment out there. I'm sure I have nothing new to add. The winged wheel has been gradually hidden away the writing was on the cards when 2 logos appeared. York rally was killed off even when Eroica reinvented it, and CTC tried to get on board which in my mind was so sad. Ero...

Re: DEMAND FOR A POLL OF THE WHOLE CLUB
The Poll of the Whole Club is a referendum of the members on a single issue: Council's decision recorded in the OP as 'to replace the existing “Cyclists` Touring Club or CTC” and associated logo(s) and heritage marks with “CYCLING UK” or another branding name and logo(s)'. The decision has been mad...
