Re: Best place to go in Feb/Mar/April

You could always get a cheap flight out to Lanzarote, with your bike, on Easyjet or Ryanair, and then ride and ferry around all the main islands!
Beaches, hills, mountains, deserts, lots of booze, lots of sunshine, guaranteed wind ha ha ha !

Re: Rhine cycle route, Andermatt to Rotterdam

Hi I rode the opposite way; up to Andermatt and then over the Gotthard Pass down to Lugano. All along the Rhine there are campsites, and villages offering accom, often signposted on the path itself. And of course there are lots of fields and tree covered countryside for free camping! AHEM, just dont...

Re: Advice please on which style of bike to buy

A good bike shop ( one where they talk bikes and care about you, the customer) is worth its weight in gold. If you are near Burton on Trent, I recommend CYCLE 2000! They have always been great with me. Best Buying AND TRY FIRST. IF THEY SAY NO-WAY, THEN GO ELSEWHERE!!! you are the customer; the one ...

Re: Chosing a touring bike out of my two bikes

Don't forget about the handlebars?
You don't want to look at the tarmac all the time!
Change the bars for touring ones, speed is not important, comfort and not being a cripple every night is!
Happy times!

let us know how you get on?

Re: What spares do you take?

YES, 3 STRONG PADLOCKS!!!
What about a spare tyre?
You can thread it through the spokes of your front wheel; looks funny but mine has never fallen out in 2 years!
Have a geat time.
Oh yes, a rear view mirror for your handlebars!

Re: Round World Tour

Taking your bike on the train is fine if its allowed? Some European countries allow it, provided there is room, and many of the faster trains ask for supplements or they are banned! Certainly in Eastern Europe you can, but getting up the EIGER of the train steps from the platform with a fully loaded...

Camino de Santiago!

Three times in the last week this route has come up in conversation, twice with strangers! It has got us interested, and that normally means I start planning? So, has anyone done it on a bike; I would be starting from Lugano, Southern Switzerland, going via Milan and Turin into France to Le Puy or A...

Re: I can't get tyres back on rim - Mavic T519

Saves room on the back of the bike, my front spare has been there since yellowstone 3 years ago, still loking good, just a bit dirty! ha ha always use schwalbe, nothing else; and Helen, try green stuff...

Re: where should I go in November?

hi
Sicily is usually ok in november, as should be corsica, malta( bit small, but accessable via ferry from palermo,so you could do both?) sicilian trains operate a roll on roll off at messina!
Crete or morocco should be other good bets for reasonable( ie non english type weather!!)
