Re: Cycle friendly Wetherspoons

Thanks! I didn't know about that one. Sounds like an outing come the spring. :D Halfway between Exeter and Cockwood. Nice pub at Cockwood ................... The Anchor Inn. That's cycle friendly I would think. Mrs Mick F and me took the train Gunnislake/Plymouth/Starcross and walked to the Anchor ...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I just want to add that there is a growing body of opinion that Brexit is incompatible with the continued existence of the UK. If Brexit happens, Northern Ireland cannot stay in the UK while Scotland will not stay in the UK. That only leaves Wales and England (and a few bits and pieces). Wheres tha...

Re: The right way to handle the Scotish Independance?

Yes, I believe Scotland should be independent if the people wish it. And, I would like to see Ireland united too. I hope we will all continue to be good neighbours. We are 4 distinct neighbouring nations after all. As for the nukes, scrap them and spend the money on a good defence force, playing Bar...

Re: What Would You Do With £170M

Yes, I enjoyed that film with Maggie Smith very much but my friend Helen isnt like that she's an ex hippy that's travelled the world and just ended up in a van because she didn't fit in. She is a very kind person who makes a living doing odd jobs. She found God, started doing voluntary work and tota...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Of course the sectarian support for Rangers and Celtic is notorious. Yes. Lived in the West of Scotland and lived on Clydeside, so I know the issues that these people have. WHY? It really doesn't matter! Christians are the most persecuted set of people on the planet, be they RC, CofE, Greek Orthodo...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Electrical work is not "pariah territory". A couple of years ago I did extensive re-wiring in my own house quite legally. Gas I've no experience with but I'd be hesitant to buy/rent somewhere where the gas installation was a DIY job by somebody who could not afford a professional to make-...

More proposed EU red tape. Perhaps soon we wont be able to repair our own bikes? https://conversation.which.co.uk/technology/right-to-repair-appliance-eu-rules/ I think you have completely mis-understood (or mis-represented) the article/new regs. It is quite reasonable for the manufacturer to only ...

Re: What Would You Do With £170M

When I look around my town - at any time day or night - and I see destitute and homeless folk huddled in corners in the rain - and I meet the folk from the local charity who do all they can to help and provide a hostel - I know of a good place to spend £170M. A lottery win is a lottery win, and goo...

Re: 3 Day Suffolk Tour

I love Walberswick, an artists paradise, so much to paint. Teds shed, the Ferry. The Fish and Chips shed, jetties, rotting rowing boats, piles, mud, reeds, lots of boats, lots of birds. So peaceful, interesting, a lovely random jumble of picturesque vistas.
