Re: Tory leader - place your bets

Brecquou adjoins Sark and the Brothers own and control a lot of stuff on Sark much to the disgust of many Islanders. Its about time all these slightly off mainland places and BOTs had their tax regulations nornalised. Its partly tax avoider pressure and the unwelcome prospect of the British taxpayer...

Re: Tory leader - place your bets

She is now out of the race what has all this got to do with the new PM? The discussion should get back to the subject in the title. Seems to me that people with a Leave POV stand to get constant harrasment by the same small group of people.

Re: Tory leader - place your bets

Gove Leadsome and Hunt seem to be the only candidates with any sort of track record, albeit chequered in some cases. But, everyone has baggage. Hoping the red trouser and chinze brigade dont elect Boris which will make us even more of a laughing stock.

Re: End of Pensioner "Perks"

Our State Pensions are paid once every 4 weeks on a Friday straight into a nominated bank account. Having paid the Graduated Pension and Serps with only a small break mine is a fairly decent sum. Since quite a bit of my wifes Nursing Career was deemed Part Time she couldnt pay full stamp which means...

Re: End of Pensioner "Perks"

Oh well, got away without paying for a couple of years, its just another tax. Feel sorry for old folk on low incomes who will struggle to afford it. Its a political football and it wouldnt surprise me if someone promises to reinstate the freeby to garner the pensioner vote.

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Now......I'm aware that things look pretty bad what with all this populist madness going on and the complete breakdown of our Parliamentary system which is happening before our very eyes.....but take heart as there's a silver lining ahead, for some of us anyway. Scotland has now looked at what's go...

Of course they're not your pals. My mistake - I should have realised you're most likely a Tommy Robinson fanboy....

Quite ridiculous Pete. Your childish behavior is pathetic. Grow up...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Too many people have a jaundiced view of what will happen after Brexit swallowing Project Fear whole. The prophets of doom have been proven wrong again and again and are now a busted flush. The £ has sunk a bit, but the positive on that is a gain in competitiveness for exporters and higher import co...

Re: What is Wrong with Politics and Reporting?

When you read anything political you must look at who is writing it and whats their angle. Some years ago we tried all the different more serious papers to decide what to buy. Surprisingly The Times seemed to be the fairest and least slanted. The Torygraph and the Guardian the worst, very openly sla...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I cant see the NHS handing over much more to the private sector. What they do is to use private provision as a flexible overload facility only paying for what is used. During the last year I saw a privately provided scanner at an NHS hospital, we were referred to a private pain Consultant at a priva...
