Bar bag mount problem

I'm afraid I may just be being a bit thick on this one, but I'm having problems with the mount for a carradice carradura bar bag i recently bought (that came with no instructions). I can mount it no problem, but I'm not sure what to do with the bit of cable, which is supposed to loop around to help ...

iPhone apps useful on a bike tour (e.g. good GPS?)

traditionalist cycle-tourers, look away now... I will soon be touring through France and plan to get a pay as you go SIM with data (quite cheap if you get an Orange Mobicarte, which are I think even available pre-activated on ebay), which means I will be able to use iphone apps :) ... Has anyone got...

Route to Barcelona/Tarragona

A bit of route advice please, if i may. I have to be in Tarragona at the end of June to start a new job and so am planning to cycle down there (light tour - send my stuff for the move separately). As yet I have no route, and was wandering what people's experiences have been. I've been reading throug...

Re: Light Tourer

Building something up definitely sounds like a great thing to do, and is something I'm sure I will do at some point, but not this time I don't think. A longterm project for the future methinks. That Dawes does look interesting, very sporty, perhaps too much so, I'm not sure. Have to really have a th...

Re: Light Tourer

Good point, sorry, I'm 5'11" so looking for something around the 56/57cm mark, I think. I like the look of the Kaffenback, I'm just very unsure about building it. You're right though, wouldn't necessarily have to me doing it.. I'll speak to LBS. The only other big reservation is time - if I cou...

Re: Light Tourer

Finally took the plunge and ordered a Dawes Clubman as AshCycles had last year's version on at a discount price, but sadly they're sold out, so it's back to the drawing board! LBS has the new version at 700 squids.. worth it? The Cross Check definitely seems like a great bike, so I'll keep waiting t...

Re: Light Tourer

Ah, well that's interesting, I was planning on a pretty much identical (carradice camper and then a barbag) setup! You say it wasn't perfect... what would you do differently? Also, how did you get on with the Long Haul Trucker (i think that's what it is from the picture?) ?

Re: Light Tourer

Thanks very much for all the ideas, I'll get researching! The cross check definitely looks interesting, but may stretch the budget to breaking point, sadly.. But I'll have a look around and see what i can find.
Cheers!

Light Tourer

New to the forum and a relatively novice cyclist, so gently does it please.. Basically the situation is this: I have a new job that starts towards the end of June in Barcelona, and as I have alarmingly little to do in the meantime, i am planning to cycle down there and so am in need of a machine. I ...
