spokes are breaking at the elbow,hubs are shimano xt 6 bolt hubs,rims are exal lx17 dont know what make the spokes are. i used low rider panniers on the bike maybe its the extra weight

spoke breakages

i keep breaking spokes in my front wheel during heavy braking on decents,they are handbuilt with plain gauge spokes is there a way to stop this,i use cable discs with a 180mm rotor

i did this route last year coming down park rash was ok but i got disk brakes on my tourer,this year ill do the route in reverse :mrgreen:

i use a proper cycle cover at night it keeps people looking at your bike to see if its worth pinching,in the morning i take the cover off turn it inside out and sit on it to cook breakfast if the grass is wet,then you can lay all your stuff out to pack it away. in a emergency you could shelter under...

must of tried 4 pairs of waterproof cycling trousers on in a XXL size but they are way too small, i enjoy cycle touring but have to keep buying walking waterproofs that are no good for cycling just to keep dry on the road,does anyone else have this problem im a 42 waist 6 foot 3 tall

i have a salsa fargo its great for touring fits big tyres and racks with ease,also has disk brakes for loads of stopping power with a full kit
