Re: Please look at the video of a Lorry knocking me off.
However it is quite possible that the cyclist was exceeding the speed limit for all motor vehicles at that point which will excuse the drivers actions and reduce or remove compensation payments. However a car would have no such blame attached to it for exceeding the speed limit for other vehicle ty...

Re: Please look at the video of a Lorry knocking me off.
I was out yesterday for a 30mile spin and came down Gunnislake Hill back to the village. I came down at just over 40mph - braking for the corners! Was that reckless? The road was empty and the surface dry and clean and there's a good view of any traffic approaching. I had faith in my bike and in my...

Re: Please look at the video of a Lorry knocking me off.
At the point where the cycle lane ended (on the road) if you look it actually doesn't end. It goes left, up onto the paved area to the left of the traffic lights and then reaches a give-way line to merge back in (as though you're coming from the side street) But he chose to not turn left, and inste...

Re: Please look at the video of a Lorry knocking me off.
My view is that the cycling is of a poor standard. If it wasn't for the apparent admission from the truck driver's solicitors that he saw the cyclist, I would say that this is sufficient to make the cyclist at least 50% liable. The cyclist should have aborted the undertake when he ran out of road sp...

Re: Why Won't Cyclists Take the Lane?
I was just driving home now. Three-lane urban road. I saw cyclist in the left lane, over near the edge of the lane on the left. Right lane empty. One car in the middle lane. I went behind the car in the middle lane. Mini Cooper comes up in the left lane, makes to pull up alongside the cyclist (who h...

Re: The honesty of charity rides?
I wouldn't assume that the fee goes to the charity. People doing these events ask for sponsorship and that goes to the charity. In the quoted ride, 500 riders @ £250+ each is £125,000, which is a nice chunk of change. Better than chugging I would think: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/9350619...

Re: Renting a road bike in the UK
Buy one on ebay, have it gone over at a bike store, and then sell it on when you leave.
This one looks very cheap as an example:

Crime fighting cyclists?
Just went to Boots/Waitrose to buy a lemon. On the way there I saw two men running with some urgency down the street, towards me. Thought 'hmm'. Both men looked about the same age, similar clothing, they gave the impression that the one man was chasing the other. Heard one shout something, didn't re...

Re: Advice re fixed penalty notice for cycling on the footwa
Just pay the £30, move on. Much simpler than arguing, sorry but that's just the way it goes. I don't often get annoyed on this forum (well, occasionally :) ) so I'm allowing myself that indulgence today. We know the OP does not have any difficulty in finding the £30 - after all, he or someone else ...

Chain slip
I was just reading this article http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2160070/Coco-Austin-shows-shes-woman-talents-fixes-pushbike--bikini.html It appears this unfortunate lady has had the chain come off her single-speed bicycle. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/06/15/article-0-13A118D60000...
