I just bought a second hand Gain and it's very good for my urban commute.
However, I am wondering how much drag is normal when the motor is switched off.
In Orbea's descriptions, it sounds like you can ride it like a normal bike without assistance but that's not my experience.
It rides reasonably well without the motor but the drag is very noticeable. Is this normal or is something wrong with the bike?
Thanks in advance,
EC

Re: 'Brexit means Brexit' ... ** The Brexit Thread **
Why **** should foreigners get to vote? How do you know they pay there taxes? The majority of the ones I know never earn enough to pay taxes or only just go over the tax allowance before going home. Some no doubt go to other countries and use there tax allowance there.
PS I have done it
Because some of us have lived here for more than 15 years, which, applying the same logic for denying the vote to UK expats who have been living abroad for the same period, should have resulted in the right to have a say on the matter.
Btw, you’ll be pleased to hear that I do pay my taxes in the UK.

And, as far as I know, legal advice.

Re: Theresa May's 'Brexit means Brexit' catchphrase is meaningless, Tory minister admits
Quite. Times have changed and I very much doubt that there's still a majority in favour of Brexit.
Today's decision will give constituents time to lobby their PMs, which in their vote, will hopefully reflect the current mood rather than the one that led to the June vote.

Re: Are CTC members happy with the direction of the CTC
In short, no I am deeply unhappy with the latest developments and the inclusion of non-CTC people in the Trustee election (hence blatantly ignoring a AGM motion) has only increased my unhappiness.
I feel no affiliation whatsoever with CUK so will be leaving when my CTC membership expires next month.
It's not the club I joined and not one I want to be a member of.

In November the figures will change to 69,999 (CTC) and 125,001 (BC).

Re: New driving test: next to useless?
Um, I would have thought that this is an important priority and one that could potentially have a huge impact on cycling safety and numbers in the UK (probably more so than refurbishing old bikes).

Does anyone know whether the CTC is lobbying the DVSA/DfT to get a cycling element included in the revised driving test?

Re: What do you look for in a campsite
I used to do a lot of cycle camping but stopped because of the noise on your average campsite (tellies, radios, children, people with instruments, engine noise, etc.).
So, peace and quiet is of paramount importance - everything else is secondary for me (apart from the showers).
Good luck with your undertaking, I hope you'll make it work.

Re: Don't mention the CUK
Well, choosing a new name/brand and associated abbreviations can indeed be tricky as the example of the George Mason University in Virginia showed when it (almost) renamed its law school the 'Antonin Scalia School of Law'.

that sounds like a very positive opportunity for branding stuff, holds real potential for future campaigns.
I find it very bland and uninspiring; but that is only my personal opinion.
However, the new name and logo (though I am against them) is only a secondary concern and my main one is the way this whole affair is being handled by the CTC and that the new brand is being rolled out now despite the pending poll.
What is certain is that if the poll comes out against the name change and if committee decides to go through with it anyway, even if this is within their powers, I will cancel my membership the next day.
It would mean that the CTC (or then CUK) would lose a keen club rider, volunteer, CTC advocate, bike ride leader and MG committee member. And I am sure I won’t be the only one. Not cancelling my membership would indicate tacit approval which isn't the case.

Re: DEMAND FOR A POLL OF THE WHOLE CLUB
So, I assume that the roll-out of the new brand is on hold until the full membership poll has been conducted.
Surely, there's no point in spending any more time and money on the proposed re-branding until this issue has been resolved.

Coming back to practicalities, if I want to submit the proposed petition, do I have to request a copy from Phil and then return it?
Can't I just print off a copy somewhere and then send the signed petition to Phil?

Re: Folders that ride like a normal bike
The Airnmial Chameleon rides as well as most proper (700c) bikes, if not better.
The problem is the design and the fact that they break. I know a number of people whose Chameleon collapsed under them without warning.
The same happened to me a few weeks ago and if I'd been going any faster or been on a busy road I probably wouldn't sit here writing this.
I understand that they have made some minor improvements but, personally, I don't trust the design anymore.
The 5-year warranty period says it all, really.
