Re: 10 speed STi to bar end shifters
hi NUKe,
Possibly would be ok. My fingers go white with the cold and take ages to warm up. Full mittens are the only thing I've found that help but I've never tried Lobster mitts.
Gloves are useless when it gets below a certain temperature because each finger is isolated and seems to leak heat!
I may give them a try before going for the bar end option.
Cheers Steve

Re: 10 speed STi to bar end shifters
Thanks for answers guys? I was going to leave levers place for the brakes and then if I want to I can use in STi mode from spring onwards.
I never had a problem on my motorbike as I had a fairing or deflectors for my hands plus heated grips! Now there's a thought!

10 speed STi to bar end shifters
I currently run 10 speed Ultegra with STis. I suffer really badly from cold hands so have to wear mittens below about 13/14 degrees.
STis are manageable but not brilliant.
Is it relatively easy to convert to Bar end shifters for the winter.
I was thinking I would need 10 speed bar end shifters, inner and outer cables and I'm good to go.
Is it this easy?

Re: Best Layback Seatpost for Brooks
I have recently bought a Van Nicholas Yukon and have been looking for the elusive large layback seatpost for my Brooks. I need 8.5cm BB to front of saddle. I have tried the Nitto posts but they haven't quite got enough.
The Velo Orange Gran Cru mentioned above fits the bill perfectly for me and still has some spare:

My only issue now is the post keeps slipping. They are both supposed to be 27.2mm. The post is fine in my Bob Jackson but slips in the Yukon. I have tried carbon paste and now wait for a beefier seat collar to arrive.
Cycling shouldn't be this frustrating!
