Re: last second ebay bidding
There's an interesting option on Yahoo Japan auctions. If a bid comes in within the last 10 mins (I think), then it extends the end time of auction time by 10 mins. And that can continue on almost indefinitely I think.
It might help that 'automated sniper' issue the OP mentions , and I would imagine it gives the seller a higher final price?
Either way, it's an interesting concept

Re: Solar panel for usb charging?
Thanks for pointers on that. I just presumed they would be out of my range, but I will keep that option openGalactic wrote: ↑13 Feb 2024, 7:20am+1 for keeping an eye on ebay etc. I've often found decent rims fitted with a Shimano dynamo hub for very cheap on ebay. Not looked over the last few years, things may be different since Covid hit, but before that I'd be looking and waiting for something second hand (but unused or practically unused) around £30. Patience and time are necessary ingredients.
EDIT - i just had a look and there are a few possible ones on eBay. But here's a proper basic newbie question ...I have discs brakes, and the Shimano dynamo hub on ebay is a whole wheel and hub, is that only suitable for cantilever brakes with brake blocks? or would I have to get someone to build my wheel and discs around the hub?

Re: When adding pics to posts, they are upside down
I suspect this could be the key - all I know for sure is that I eventually get it to work ; this will be after a few open and closes and such like.Jdsk wrote: ↑12 Feb 2024, 9:20am
Thanks for a straight answer. : - )
The EXIF tags are the obvious suspect. But I don't understand where they're getting misused in that workflow.
Once they're on the Desktop I suggest Opening them in Preview, checking the orientation and Saving them before uploading here. And letting us know if that removes the problem.
Jonathan
So, in short, I have solved it somehow , but am not sure at which stage the 'correction' happens. And I feel that the original error occurs with iPhone camera and orientation, which I am sure that the iPhone makes a decision on the orientation based on how the phone is held
Either way, I can now see from the other comments that it isn't just iPhone/mac/iCloud issue for me.
Any further info you want from me re EXIF tags, just let me know. Thanks for your support anyway

Re: When adding pics to posts, they are upside down
Coming off an Iphone, (so , after reading previous thread) , they could be 'upside down' despite appearing the right way up (if I held the phone inverted)Jdsk wrote: ↑11 Feb 2024, 10:00am What's your whole workflow from taking the original picture through to uploading here?

Then picking up the photo's in my MacBook photo's app, grabbing them to desk top (and they appear right way up), and dropping it in the message box on here , and also tried by clicking the 'insert photo' icon on top of message box

When adding pics to posts, they are upside down
I thought this was just me , but have seen a couple of other pics in posts that are also upside down
I flip the photo my end and still it is upside down - then occasionally after a few tries, they end up in correct orientation
(for info, I am on Safari on MacBook)

Re: London to Staffordshire
The CdF is a very comfy ride indeed!Nearholmer wrote: ↑9 Feb 2024, 9:59pm Funnily enough, I use the same. It wouldn’t do for “everything including the kitchen sink” touring, being too short in the chain-stays to take lots of luggage, but it’s a great bike for “credit card touring” or minimalist camping because it’s fairly nippy on easy ground, but agile-enough on even fairly technical stuff. And, it’s very comfortable. So much of a fan have I become, that I’ve now got two, one drops, one flat-bars.
I've only ever ridden steel framed bikes, so when it came to moving into the 'modern age' of bikes, I wanted to stick with something familiar. The discs brakes might be quite 'lowly models' for most modern riders, but when you have jumped from late 70's early 80's cantilever side-pulls and centre pulls, they are absolutely miles better in my opinion.

Re: Solar panel for usb charging?
So, a bit more of a trickle charge than a solar zapping!? hahaThehairs1970 wrote: ↑10 Feb 2024, 7:57am I have the same one as Ian. I like it but remember you do need quite strong light to get the best from them. Outer Hebrides? Forget it! I make sure my battery pack is fully charged before heading out and use the panel to top it up when I can’t access mains. I have it strapped across the top of my rear panniers/tent during the day and then hung up, laid out when in camp.
