I have used AVG free for years. Careful what you download and do not fall for one of their trials. They do nag a bit about upgrading to the free version though.

I have used Norton but found that it started to slow things down to a crawl after a couple of upgrades.

The christians at our local church obviously have no legs. They all park outside on the road and around a road junction. I presume they have no legs as they cannot walk 20 yards from a vast free car park that would only be 25% occupied if they all parked in there - it usually is empty.

Just bought a bike with trigger shifters for my 6 year old grandson. He can change gears far too easily. He has been told not to use the gears whilst he gets used to riding the new bike but doesn't listen!

Drove down M40 from Oxford a couple of weeks ago. There were groups buzzards in the sky for several miles. I had never seen so many in such a short space of time.

Snowing in E Sussex this morning. Out with my walking group and we cut the walk short as it was so b. awful.

Recently renewed insurance on one of our cars. Was through the AA but now through the Caravan Club. Saved nearly £200 and I am on the same terms with the same insurer!

At the same time I moved my breakdown cover from the AA to Green Flag - again through the Caravan Club. Nearly another £100 saved.

Apparently I was spouting off about Eric in the common room just after I started university - I lived in Orpington at the time. One of the young ladies thought to herself "I bet I end up with that idiot".

SWMBO is always right - 50 years later we are still together.

That's one heck of a salary, and much higher than folk round here earn in a year.

£6.70 x 40 x 52 = £13936pa.

If somebody is working a 40hr week then the employer is acting illegally.

Remember that there is a statutory 28 day holiday entitlement- so the 52 weeks includes this for a full time employee.

On the Daily Politics today it was said (I believe that I have got this right) that at the GE the pollsters overstated support for the Labour Party by 3% and understated the Conservatives by 3%. Support for the other parties was broadly right. The chap who said this also said that the same was continuing with polls at the moment so the Conservative were 6% further ahead of Labour than the published polls were showing.

There is a boundary revision coming which is believed to benefit the Conservatives by about 10 seats.

If all this is correct then Mr Cameron has nothing to worry about at the moment.

Even cheaper is our free bus passes and the children go free as well. We have Oyster cards for use on the tube and children go free there as well. Southern charge £1 each for the children so getting from home into London is not too expensive.

Grandchildren have been on the tube - visit to the free National History Museum - but we thought that an open top bus trip would be a treat for them so they could at least see Buckingham Palace and the Tower with all places in between but I am not going to pay £73 for that.

Picked up a leaflet at the local railway station yesterday. It contains an offer for half price entry to various "attractions" in London. My wife has never been in St Paul's Cathedral and would really like to go but normal entry is £18! I think even that for two is OTT.

I also picked up a leaflet for London bus tours as we have the grandchildren for half term and thought they might like to see some of the sights but a family ticket is £73. I think Shank's pony will be our mode of transport.

As for bloody cats - hate the things.

Son has 3 and have to put up with them when visiting him - luckily the usually make themselves scarce.

Came through Calais on Sunday. Absolutely no problems and people were riding in and out on bikes as well as in vehicles.

We have lived with a septic tank since moving to our house in 1978. The only things that have caused us an occassional problem are tampons and condoms jamming a pump. When our sons moved out the problem with the latter stopped and age has stopped the problem with the former.

We put all most of our water down into the tank including from the bathroom and kitchen including the dishwasher and we use soap, liquid soap, washing up liquid and dishwasher tabs. I also put down the contents of the chemical toilet from our motorcaravan if it is not empty when we get home from a trip. Rainwater goes into what I don't know - I presume a soakaway somewhere - and the washing machine water goes into a soakaway that my wife and I dug many moons ago.

I am currently logged in on my desktop, Nexus 7 and am writing this on my laptop.
