Re: Ban Politics from the forum

I think self-editing by intimidation very dangerous. I feel paranoia creeping all over me. I would like to raise some subjects here and now but feel intimidated. I feel threatened. Seriously. I feel myself shutting up. Wow,now I know some things you can't raise. Speaking just for myself, this is why ...

Re: Ban Politics from the forum

I tend to think it very unwise to ban anything, well that which is written or spoken. That which is spoken or read can highlight suppressed news or behaviours that are seen as inappropriate. I would like to highlight some here again, but from the banning view or finding topics offensive,I'm now going ...

Re: Handicaps of becoming a commoner

With us all living longer, much longer(even more longer for the Royals),it might not be that strange to see Prince Andrew(aged 101)stopping by the local fish and chip shop to see his grandson in the queue. Separated from the Crown(where the money is)they might be behind CUKs younger folk. Or living n...

Handicaps of becoming a commoner

Just read Prince Andrew is getting a little concerned that in a generation his off-spring may well become 'commoners'. I guess it sells newspapers. But for a nano second I can understand his angst. Just think, there he is a-jetting this way and that, being saluted,reverred,respected,kow-towed down to....

Re: Did anyone watch the John Pilger...

Yes, watched it and could understand why China might begin to feel a little threatened. But then again, wotsabout USA surrounding Russia+++ Still you have to find a use for all that military hardware you are making, and which is making ££££ and employment! War can create biz+++you just don't want to b...

Mornin Harry.

One hour passes.

Weather mightn't be too good.
Say that again.

Another hour passes...and the shop is closed.

Tick tock,time passes.

And then we die!

Re: Rail Ticket Office Closures.

I can understand those who choose to use contactless,howsoever...this gives the excuse to the authorities to up the fares for those who don't...or can't:those without adequate £££ in accounts, the elderly, those unable to manage their financial affairs, the disenfranchised. Arguing against myself,I gue...

Re: Rail Ticket Office Closures.

I guess I am too suspect. I have been told train guards have been told to stay away from contactless whilst working: the machines can clock something from your card when its unnecessary. Same goes if travelling with spouse. S/he buys ticket for other half. At either end both are docked for the trip....

Re: Two Threads culled in two days

I well remember the olde teashops of yore wherein everyone was respectable and conversation moderated. No talk about...well,almost anything really :( Morning Harry. Morning Sid. Talking stops. 2 hours pass. A clock ticks. Munching begins. More silence. A chainset is mentioned. More silence. If it wa...

Re: Rail Ticket Office Closures.

I wonder if 'the dream' of railway operators will be to have completely unmanned stations and driverless/guardless trains. Herein everyone will be expected to download their own tickets via their apps. When booked wrong or found to be at fault, the eye-in-the-sky or ticket machines will stop you ente...

Re: Theresa May's 'Brexit means Brexit' catchphrase is meaningless, Tory minister admits

One of the benefits to biz is the casualised workforce: zero hrs, short term contracts. Not very nice I would say. Still, for a migrant better pay than back in Bucharest. Being 30 and single also helps...flexible, adaptable, willing to settle anywhere in the country and share a room. Unfortunately t...

HM gets £300K stolen from her residence say. Police come, blue lights flash. 20 officers involved in resolving crime. Homless person has his hat stolen. Reports it to police. How many officers do you think will be involved in resolving the case? On a ratio of need + relative money/assets to individua...
