Can i throw in a few comments.
Over the last 10 years i’ve been both a paid up CTC member and a PITA forum member.
Words like “PC” and “Woke” do not apply ... but ....
Since WE changed from CTC to CUK there seems to be more interest in Diversity .. than cycling, more interest in Rights .. than cycling, more interest in LGBTQ , SJTEB ... than cycling, more interest in anything ... other, than cycling...
I now pay my yearly subs to AUDAX ..
But I love this forum ... despite the bans ...

Re: 3rd party insurance.
The Wimps .. a cycling group that grew from a post on this forum, have had a number of rides.
No leader, no navigator (!), someone suggests a ride and off we go.
We’ve had rides around the Midlands, LEJOG, Coast to Coast .... and generally furtled about ...
Insurance ... some have, some haven’t ... don't ask, don't tell, seems to be the right way for us ..
You’d be surprised how many of us have 3rd party insurance buried away in household, buildings and other insurances ...

Re: E-bikes cut up bridle paths
Why not just accept that “E-bikes” are motorbikes.
58 years a Cyclist, 49 years a Motorcyclist.
If it has an engine / motor installed it’s a motorbike ...
As i get older, i will in all probability move from a Bicycle to an E-bike / electric motorbike.
And continue to enjoy the roads and byways ..
Why do we have to pretend that a Bicycle with an engine fitted is not a motorbike ?
Before you know it we will be pretending Men wearing a dress are Women ....
How ridiculous would that be ...

Re: Measuring Blood Pressure
I was initially given statins, Atorvastatin, with Amlodipine daily. But the statin caused such pain in my feet i could not walk so the GP put a stop to that. As a result she doubled the Amlodipine from 5mg a day to 10mg .... my lower legs and feet swelled up like balloons !
So, back to 5mg Amlodipine with 2.5mg Ramipril and all seems to be ok ....
Blood pressure just taken .... 140/83 .. best of 3.

Re: Measuring Blood Pressure
In early November this year i suffered a Transient Global Amnesia event (TGA) while out cycling.
When my daughter got me to hospital, the ambulance service in Rotherham had refused to attend as i was on a canal towpath, I was seen and told my blood pressure was dangerously high .... and then left for 14 hours in A&E waiting room. Seen by a doctor then left for a further 10 hours before going for a CT scan, Chest x-ray and 6 days later an MRI scan.
Result ?
No damage from the TGA but diagnosed with severe heart disease, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, my heart only pumping a smaller capacity of blood due to a thickened heart muscle, caused by unknown and untreated high blood pressure ....
Get yourselves checked out folks, there are no symptoms until you die in the chair watching the rugby.
I was lucky, now i can tailor my life and cycling for my best outcome.

Drivel ... Russia is not going to invade the Ukraine ... if anyone thinks they are feel free to go and get killed on the front line ... we’ve lost enough youngsters to pointless wars ...
All front line troops should be made up of politicians and those that think supporting wars in far away places is a good idea ...
No more coffins being carried out of the back end of Hercs, or guys and girls with missing limbs ...

Are Ribble still trading ?
I’m was due to collect my new bike from Ribble to-day, all attempts at confirming this are failing as any contact with their ‘"Customer Service “ number puts you in touch with a script reader that says the computers are up dating and I would receive an email early next week.
Exactly the same answer as when i called them early last week ....
Starting to get worried they’ve gone belly up !
Anybody else having problems ?

The problem with Lycra;
I'ts so bloody comfortable !
For my day to day work I dress in polo shirt, safety boots and jeans, i wear Lycra running briefs from Decathlon as underwear.
All my underwear is lycra, supportive, self wicking and super comfortable ....
My wife wear's Lycra and lace undies ....
