Is it Cheating

I was unable to complete my Lejog attempt with the Wimps about 5years ago when i fell off my bike near Bristol and broke several ribs.
It occurred to me that I have ridden to home from Whitehaven and from home to Inverness
If I can persuade my family that this 76year old man recovering from Prostate Cancer and a heart attack ,that ,with a couple of months rest between ,I could ride from Bristol to Whitehaven and from Inverness to John O Groats would I at last be able to say I Have Ridden LEJOG ?

Re: All of a sudden I'm doing a LEJOG

Look up the Wimps lejog it was designed to avoid hills and busy roads where possible.
It follows robs passage and numerous forum members especially MickF contributed.

Happy New Year to all. Thinking we need to start sorting out our campsites fairly soon...feedback on previous ones is a good call.
Personally 2 I would avoid are Okehampton ( miserable owner) and Blair castle ( to regimented).
Feedback is appreciated.....
Speak to you all soon

Please tell me you aren’t just reversing Lejog using the original campsites.
Why not something different the west side of Scotland more central or eastern England or maybe stray into Wales not just the same again in reverse

Have you got a normal 3 pin socket so I can charge my phone???

I don't think Nick has mains hook up at either camps if I read the original script correctly from Oldman. ?

Flash could always ask one of the riders staying in the caravans to charge his phone

Easy Side !! There's an easy side !!!! ...... and we're not taking it !!!

It's not that easy I remember going downhill on a narrow poorly surfaced
forest track with a steep drop a foot away from my wheels. Must be the only time I've pushed downhill

For next year do a Wimps tour of Scotland including some of the islands. this could be 7 to 10days depending on the Wimps availability.
The following year we could complete Jogle from the Scottish borders to LE.
Hopefully this will allow all Wimps to take part without interrupting family life to much.
Comments and ideas Please

For a number of reasons.....

(see https://hughwill69.wordpress.com/)

.....I have just completed LEJoG in four sections starting back in May 2018. When we got to JoG people (as they always do) asked me how I felt. The fact that I hadn't done it in one go did cross my mind. But it's not a biggy at my age (69 3/4) as I realised it was the route I wanted to do, not a personal feat of endurance. And to me I am now a LEJoGer whether others would say so or not.

So I would say go for what's practical. It'll feel just as good.

BTW, having started this, my wimpy LEJog turned out as involving 42,000 feet of climbing. Why anyone would want to add to such a total (Forest of Bowland? Cheddar Gorge? The Carnwell?, The Lecht? is beyond me....)

Hugh

Nice to see your post, one of the things I regret about the Wimps Lejog is that you weren't with us.
I'm 72 now and after a life changing illness i have decided not to take part in anymore long distant rides after the C2c next week.
My other regret about Wimps Lejog was falling off on day four and my seven broken ribs stopped me from completing it. CONGRATULATIONS on finishing your Lejog. We can both look back on what we and Landsurfer created with pride and watch Landsurfer continue the Wimps tradition

Re: WIMPS Coast To Coast 2019

I used to ride every Sunday with the club, we used to meet up and decide where we were riding to it was always a cafe.
Invariably we decided to ride into the wind on the way out so that we could have a tailwind coming back. It Never Happened

Yes I am staying in a caravan both nights so I should be able to recharge them. I need to workout with Phil to contact him if I need to swap one.
I am a bit concerned about your 24hour monitor I hope the results were OK this is not an easy ride or walk
