Re: Tory leader - place your bets

For me "Sark" conjures up the image of Mervyn Peake's droll novel Mr Pye (and the 1980s Channel 4 serialisation, starring Derek Jacobi). A gentler portrayal of the CI, nothing about tax havens or billionaire exiles, back then!

Re: Tory leader - place your bets

Johnson is being paid £275,000 p.a. by the Barclay brothers, who also promote his leadership campaign in the Daily Telegraph. They live on Brechou in the Channel Islands, no doubt because they like the scenery . It's "Brecqhou" (yes I had to look it up!). But I doubt very much whether the...

Yes the camera sounds like a good investment: go for it. Having said that, I've had a camera on the bike (intermittently) for several years now, sent one or two videos to the police, but nothing came of it - yet! Hope you weren't hurt in that nasty incident, and pity you couldn't get the reg. (but u...

Re: Tory leader - place your bets

Revealed: Secret Tory plan for members to crown Boris Johnson as new leader unopposed ...but he's concerned about how he'll look in the Crown Jewels. Good idea. Couldn't they just plonk the Koh-i-Noor, suitably mounted, on the Bojo thatch? Note for the uninitiated: the Koh-i-Noor diamond is reputed...

....and who will be eaten up with anger and angst if its a success ..... Don't get me wrong. I will be eaten up with anger and angst if Brex**it actually happens - whether it's a success or a disaster. So - I suspect - will many others. Our only objective, thereafter, would be to get that iniquitou...

Return journey by car from our place in France. One of our lunch stops is just north of Sarlat: a place we aim to stop at each time we pass, because it's an excellent spot for a picnic lunch with good views. And the flowers! So, on our last visit, just two weeks ago, we counted no fewer than thirtee...

This old farmer goes along to the doctor, and says "Doctor, I have these 'ere warts on me backside..."

Doctor carries out a brief examination, and says "Don't worry, they're benign."

"Please count again Doctor, I'm sure there be ten..."

Re: 10 years on from the Crash: Looking back with Osborne

well clickbait for you but I found it interesting listening to to the podcast. The message is if it dont interest you then dont bother with it ? Precisely - but the problem is, every new thread displaces downwards, any thread I might be interested in. Until they drop off the first page and become e...

Merc, do we really need all this clickbait (if that's what it is) on this forum? Others have complained besides me.

Seems the egregious Mr Assange is off to America after all.

I have to speculate: why not Sweden? Isn't (alleged) rape as serious a crime as (alleged) espionage?

Welcome Skyhawk. I have one criticism of your post: ... so unlike people here who are real cyclists we are not. You and your son are just as much 'real' cyclists as any of us. There is no need to be so modest! Anyone who cycles (unless they do so in an anti-social manner) deserves the distinction of...
