Re: Campag Athena groupset changing the rear cassette and rear derailleur to a wider block

Hi Pete, I heard this before, my worry is the pull on the Athena is not quite linear ( I may have got this wrong) as the spacers between the sprockets are not the same width.
What chain do you run? Campag or Shimano?

Re: Campag Athena groupset changing the rear cassette and rear derailleur to a wider block

Thanks Brucey from what I can get off the campag site and also the Velotech website, unless I am reading things wrong, the interchangeability is very limited, on what is recommenced. I am running 2014 Athena, with 2015 shifters So using Potenza seems to be out as the pull ratios are different accord...

Re: Specific Fixed gear chainring will I notice the difference?

Strange that you should mention Spa zircle, that's what I have been using up to now.
Just thought I would ask if something more specific was worth while

Re: Specific Fixed gear chainring will I notice the difference?

Thanks all for the comments The cranks are spa XD touring cranks, with the view when I set it up as an experiment to see if I could enjoy/ ride fixed I would sort it out later..... So tried to reuse as much existing equipment as possible, hence the current cranks. I have gone through three chains in...

Specific Fixed gear chainring will I notice the difference?

Hi All, I have been running my fixed gear bike for nearly 2 years now (All year round commuter), and after two winters, the current chain ring is showing some wear. This is a standard 110BCD Road bike ring. I am looking at changing to a "proper" fixed Chain ring, but I will have to purchas...

Re: Campag Athena groupset changing the rear cassette and rear derailleur to a wider block

Sorry for the thread resurrection

I am now in the position to need to replace my rear cassette. As Athena is no longer made, is Potenza a possible match?
If I got the long Potenza rear derailleur as well could I run an 11-32?
Otherwise what Campag 11-29 would work?

Many thanks

Re: Long tail cargo (possibly e-bike), or regular bike for commuting with 1 child in hilly town

Hi, if you are in Bristol, you could pop along to Rob at really useful bikes.....( In Yate) He might have something you can look at / ride. However I think he has reduced what he sells, and concentrates on cargo bikes. Alternatively we got our etrike from https://www.kidsandfamilycycles.co.uk/m.inde...

Re: Chainline for a FLip/ flop hub

The freewheel was 2mm out in my case. Seems a bit suboptimal that the wheels are not made to work in the fashion that most people would expect/ want them to. Is there a sensible reason they are made this way? I only really use the freewheel when on holiday, and plan a route that would be "chall...

I can see where your coming from, but not in this case, as the wheels are disc braked

Chainline for a FLip/ flop hub

Hi all, I have a converted dawes running fixed. As this was my first foray in to this world, I have done this on the cheap so to speak. I bought a cheap ready built fixed/ free wheel and had the adapter to space it to 130mm rear axle (The dawes had been previously cold set.) The chain line for the f...

Re: Tyre trouble

Thanks all,

I looked at the tires, the side that was coming off is definitely a different shape to the other side, so I am assuming that the bead has broken/ come adrift,

many thanks
