Re: shimano rd-4700 actuation ratio

:) Mick, it seems you have a 46 series tiagra. For improving shifting, I'd generally just recommend the plain sp-41 outers with good quality alloy end caps, and a slippery-stainless steel gear cable. Make sure the housing is adequate length, without sharp bends, acute angles. A friend of mine used t...

Re: shimano rd-4700 actuation ratio

thank you. i must admit, the long arm front derailleurs made an improvement in shifting at the front, and also, with these new, revised rear shifters, the system is not that sensible to cable stretch and grime. The stuff just works very good. Even though, the older ten speed shifters with non-concea...

Re: shimano rd-4700 actuation ratio

nope. rd4700 is not old-10 speed (SIS) compatible, the shifters don' use the short cable pull, in fact, they pull a lot more. The RD is designed the same way as 5800, 6800, both of which has 1.4 actuation ratio (11 speed shimano cable pull is approx. 2.7mm) but just looking at the design, it is clea...

shimano rd-4700 actuation ratio

hello. as i know, shimano 11speed road derailleurs have 1.4 actuation ratio, just like old, 20th century campag. tiagra pretty much got the same design, so, increased cable travel and decreased actuation ratio http://blog.artscyclery.com/science-behind-the-magic/science-behind-the-magic-drivetrain-c...

Re: Beginner road bike

If you can push it further: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/wilier-montegrappa-tiagra-2015/ very nice equipement (No sparing on the chainset with some basic square-tapered one, no sparing with the brakes! tiagra all-throughout, a very reliable kit) Good geometry with tall headtube (comfortable) Or: http://w...

Re: FH body swap

Brucey: I don't think that's a good idea. :) Just think about it: the FH body is shorter, and buying a new set of 10speed wheels can be as cheap as 50 euros, esp. if you manage to source a rear one. So, Cheaper to sell and replace. As Mentioned, my current wheels are in pretty top condition, but I h...

Re: FH body swap

my problem is that even though my 8spd hubs are perfect, they only accept 8spd cassettes. with these wheels I'd later be able to upgrade to 10 speed, and the wheels are actually around the same price as a rear hub and re-lacing the wheels I currently use. I trust the seller, because he's a friend of...

Re: FH body swap

Thanks for the help, I won't buy those then. They cost too much, 40 euros, and re-lacing the wheels is expensive (around 15 euros for both wheels) Instead I'd probably buy a complete wheelset around 50-60 Euros. I've been offered with this one: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B4bwk8uFB7moQmN...

FH body swap

I'd like to inquire about something, any assistance would be kindly appreciated. Please, if there's anyone, who would probably be able to provide insight, I'd be obliged to hear it.. I've been offered a set of Veloce hubs, like these: I have a wheelset built up with 8speed athena hubs, dating...

Freehub body protection

One friend of mine uses steel plates placed between the cassette cogs and the alloy freehub body on shimano splined freehubs in cases when he wants to mount cassette which is on not alloy carriers. My question: can it be done for campag also? I have a 9-10spd campag wheelset, and planning to buy ano...

Re: Selle Italia XO Genuine Gel saddle, embroidered

Thank you for the response. It seems that there are different versions of the same saddle, as I've found reviews where they are described as being 135mm wide and 270mm long. I'll probably won't buy it after all, as I have been given a Charge Spoon in white by a mate of mine, and also, my sit-bones a...

Selle Italia XO Genuine Gel saddle, embroidered

I'd like to inquire about this saddle: http://apro.bikemag.hu/browse/orszaguti/nyereg/selle-italia-xo-quot-geninue-gel-quot-magnezium-palcas-himzett-nyereg-l247234.html I've asked the seller to measure it, he told me it's narrow, 136mm at the widest point. Can I believe him? I thought these would be...

Re: Boardman Road Team vs Focus Culebro vs Focus Cayo

excuse my ignoring the fact that not everyone is like continental europeans :) when they design those frames, germans tend to also ignore the possibility of adding mudguards, as it's very rare for them to use fenders on their roadies.

Re: Boardman Road Team vs Focus Culebro vs Focus Cayo

I'll be honest.. 99% of Hungarian children in kindergarten when sees the Union Jack will think of "2nd hand clothing". And I love 2nd hand clothes shop, I've bought 3! altura gel-padded shorts for 3 bucks (yes, 3 pounds), 2 of them were brand new with the manufacturer's sticker still insid...
