Campsite suggestions near Ross-on-Wye
Hi - we are doing the CTC B&B route, but camping. I am trying to find a campsite somewhere within about 10 miles of Ross-on-Wye. Not looking for anything fancy, but more than a cold tap and drain! I have tried searching the forum for this information but nothing coming up. Can anyone recommend s...

Re: Dawes Galaxy Touring bike start back ache
+1 for Paul Hewitt fitting. I was in exactly the same position with my Galaxy about 6 years ago. He identified that the seat (Brooks B17) didn't have enough rearward adjustment and the drops were too low. With careful selection of components to get the right fit, he made a bike that was marginally t...

also check that your rear axle hasn't snapped. This has happened twice to me and it was only the skewer holding everything together

Re: Touring tyre recommendations
Thanks for your comments - really helpful. How are the Paselas for p*****ture resistance? (The Marathons have been great in that respect.) Can anyone offer a comparison in ride quality between Pasela and Marathons? Thanks also for the tip about LX hubs - I notice now that Spa fit those to their own ...

Touring tyre recommendations
I have just rationalised my collection of bikes from 5 down to 3 and I'm going to use the proceeds to treat my Galaxy to a new set of wheels and tyres. The plan is to buy a SON28/Sputnik front and XT/Sputnik rear from Spa Cycles. I've had Schwalbe Marathons on the Galaxy from new and they have been ...

Re: Steel frame MTB for expedition
I had one of the original steel Boulders that I used for commuting down canal towpaths for a few years. I thought it was fab! Big selling point for me was that the forks came with front rack mountings. It remains one of the most comfortable bikes I've had and wish I'd never sold it!

i was in Edinburgh Cycle Co-Op in Manchester a few weeks ago and reckon their Courier 27 would make a really good basis for a tourer - http://www.edinburghbicycle.com/ebwPNLqrymode.a4p?f_ProductID=12409&f_FullProductVersion=1&f_SupersetQRY=Kcourier&f_SortOrderID=-1&f_bct= . 27 speed ...

Re: Rutland Cycling
I had trouble with them a couple of years ago - ordered some stuff via EBay and they missed out part of the delivery (not of very high value). I e-mailed them a few times and got no response so wrote it off and left negative feedback on EBay. THEN got tons of abuse in response for not ringing them a...

Re: A philosphy for problem solving
On the basis that simple is often best, how about using cross over technology from motorbike disc locks. They often have a springy cable between the disc lock and handlebars to avoid the BIG embarressment of trying to ride off with the front wheel locked in position - with obvious comedy results! So...
