Re: TRAINING for LEJOG

I would say that your schedule looks ok. I did LEJOG last July (930 miles over 12 days). I trained for 4 months and managed the ride without any problems. I would recommend that you do 3 or 4 back to back days at some stage covering similar mileage to what you will be doing on a daily basis. Everyon...

Re: How much does a self planned Lejog cost ....

Have you thought about this one man band company, offers very good value, I am doing the 12 day Lejog in June with them. Good value at £1100. http://www.great-bear-tours.co.uk/# I rode LEJOG with Great Bear last July. Carl who runs Great Bear offers excellent value for money. You are also picked up...

Supported Lejog goes Off topic

I have to say on the issue of wearing a cycle helmet " Why would you not wear a helmet". Mick F states that "helmets are very uncomfortable" if you are bald or almost totally bald. I am totally bald, and my helmet is extremely comfortable to the degree that I cannot feel it on my...

Re: Supported Lejog

Dennis, 15mph is good. In fact if you were to average that on LEJOG it would be very good indeed. I did my LEJOG starting in early July this year, but did not start training until the 1st March. I began with 15-20 mile rides for the first week or two and gradually stepped up to some 80 mile rides. I...

Re: Supported Lejog

I did the 12 day LEJOG with Great Bear in July this year. The price is excellent especially in comparison to other LEJOG tour providers. You will be able to rest as to travel down to Lands End, without worry of making travel connections. There were 14 of us in total who were on the ride. The accommo...

Re: 10 day LeJog (100 miles per day). 2015

Many thanks to Natural Ankling, Mick F and elleithyia for your advice which is greatly received. I am almost certainly going to book the organised event through Peak Tours. They show their 10 day LEJOG as covering 956 miles. The longest day is 112 miles with the shortest being 80 miles. A full break...

Re: 10 day LeJog (100 miles per day). 2015

Hi, Thanks for the reply which is very useful. Over this summer I have been tending to average 16-17 mph over 50-60 mile routes. On a sportive ride I tend not to get off the bike until the ride is finished, so the speed is bike time only. Yes, I am very pleased with the times I have achieved, althou...

10 day LeJog (100 miles per day). 2015

I am now considering joining one of the organised LeJog events that are being run in 2015. The one that interests me is a 10 day ride which equates approximately to 100miles per day. I have been riding bikes for many years but have never covered a distance like this before. I currently ride sportive...

Re: LEJOG cycling partner needed summer 2015

Have you considered going with a tour company? A friend and I did LeJog earlier in the year with Peak Tours. I think the cost compares favourably with a doing your own b&b tour, you get the benefit of riding with others (we had a great group), and the logistics are taken care of leaving you to ...

LEJOG cycling partner needed summer 2015

I am aiming to ride LEJOG at some stage during the summer of 2015. I have been a keen cyclist for many years and have wanted to ride LEJOG for some time. Ideally I would like to have a cycling companion to ride with as for me it would make the journey more enjoyable. I would have someone to chat wit...

Re: JOGLE UPDATE - More Riders Welcomed! - 25th July 2012 st

Hi, I'm really interested in joining you. I am off work during the last week of July and the first week of August, although I have some flexibility with this. I will be 58 by then, so certainly fit into the 'age group' ok. When you say you are looking to complete in 'about a fortnight' are you going...

Re: Is anyone looking for a 'Cycling Partner' for LEJOG

I'm out and about tomorrow, looking at a range of touring bikes that will hopefully give me some indication as to which way to go in terms of choice. I don't necessarily think it is just about the amount of money that is spent on a bike. It's easy to get carried away. I'm going to look at frames tha...

Re: Is anyone looking for a 'Cycling Partner' for LEJOG

Hi Spike
Thanks for the info on the touring bike. The information is very useful. I will take a close look at selection now. Are you getting much cycling in at the moment?

I am struggling a bit with route selection for LEJOG, not having done this before. Are you still interested?

Regards
David

Re: Is anyone looking for a 'Cycling Partner' for LEJOG

Hi Spike, Just for interest, what type of bike are you currently riding? I am looking at getting an out and out touring bike, but as usual when I look at buying a new bike there are several that I like the looks of without breaking the bank. I am looking at several brands including Dawes, Ridgeback,...
