Re: Claiming from driver's insurer.

Good news update....
Bike repaired and helmet replaced without any fuss. Reasonable personal injury compensation paid.
Key message; if you're able to, take photos.

Re: Claiming from driver's insurer.

This was a head on, with the car fully on the wrong side of the road, I had nowhere to go - difficult to see how liability can be disputed...

Driver apologised immediately (which was nice). Then claimed he didn't see me.

We'll see where it ends up.

Re: Claiming from driver's insurer.

"PS A fairly common situation is where a driver offers inqformal compensation in return for not involving their insurer and then reneges. I'd be grateful there's non of that here."

That offer was made, and declined.

Re: Claiming from driver's insurer.

Thanks folks, I've photos of the driver, the position of the car, my injuries, my bike, etc. I attended A&E and got mended. I reported to the police and his insurer (he hadn't done this). At the moment I think I've done all I can - I suspect it'll take a while to get sorted. As an aside, how clu...

Claiming from driver's insurer.

Good evening, I'd be interested to know about experiences of claiming against a driver's insurance. This morning I had a head-on collision with a car, which resulted in minor injuries to me and damage to my bike. I contacted the driver's insurer with details and they are to contact the driver. From ...

Re: Med to Atlantic

Thanks - all very useful stuff. I'm not too worried about hills or heat, but I was wondering about the winds. So, a naive question - how likely is it that one would experience a week of full-on headwinds?
Thanks again.

Med to Atlantic

Good afternoon folks,
Thinking about next summer...Narbonne to Bordeaux.
Most of the Med/Atlantic route descriptions I've found on the web are for Atlantic to Mediterranean.
Any obvious reason why Med to Atlantic would be a problem?
Thanks,
Sean.

Re: St Witz hotels

Thanks, looking at getting three of us in one room, so secure parking might be more appropriate...we'll see.

St Witz hotels

Evening all,
Does anyone have any experience of the cheapie hotels in St Witz? We'll need most of a night in one prior to European Bike Express early hours pick up in August.
Thanks,
Sean.

Re: Devon C2C

We had a great couple of days. In summary - amazing wildlife (a buzzard at very close quarters and a pair of deer), the lanes are more interesting than the rail trails (unsurprisingly, I guess), bikes on trains no problem, well signposted on the whole, met some friendly people (a pair doing pretty m...

Re: Devon C2C

Wow, never anticipated quite such a full and detailed response - thank you all. For info, we're heading by train from Newton Abbot to Barnstaple on Sunday morning (first train from St. Davids, hoping and praying the 6 minutes connection time will be sufficient...), leaving Barnstaple about 11:00 or ...

Thanks folks, useful info. Is the 'gap in the middle' where you used to have to divert off at Lake Viaduct?

Devon C2C

Good evening all, My son and I are cycling the Devon C2C from Barnstaple to Plymouth over two days this weekend. Just wondering if there are any obvious navigational pitfalls that we need to be aware of? e.g. ambiguous or missing route signs etc. We have mapped it out and will have printed maps with...
