Re: Trent and Mersey Canal, Stoke>South

Stoke to Stone is fine on any bike as I cycle it regularly but once you past Aston south of Stone can be muddy in wet weather.

Re: Spa Cycles (Harrogate)

I've recently used Spa for the first time for some parts as they were cheaper than Wiggle or anyone else and the parts arrived within two days which I would say was excellent service and will certainly use them again hopefully for a new bike once further restrictions are lifted and I can visit Harrogate to try for size.

Re: Securing helicoil into crank

I used to run a mobile thread repair business predominately to the motor trade and industry and have literally helicoiled hundreds of threads in all sizes from 3mm to 20mm and never used any type of thread locking compound or epoxy resin and only very occasionally have I known a helicoil to come out.

Sometimes cheap copy helicoils fail (ask me how I know) and I would ask whoever completed the repair to try another one

Pretty flat route Crewe to Caernarfon with no real noticeable hills, then things get a little hillier as you turn south!

Re: My Touring / Expedition Bike Conversion - Dawes Sardar - VIDEO

Very interesting build and video and I have the same bike which I have owned for around ten years but is currently completely dismantled whilst I consider what to do with it. Really fancy fitting discs but have not found any suitable and would be interested if anyone else has converted to discs what they have used. Also wondering whether to keep drops or fit straight bars.

I found the original saddle which you have to be comfortable, in fact much more comfortable than the B17 I have.

Think you all must have scared the OP off, don't think he's posted for over two days now.

Re: Four War Tour

Just read your trip report on another forum and it is probably the best, most in-depth and informative trip report I have read. I recognise many of the places as my wife and I went on a four day coach trip over armistice weekend to the various war cemeteries, museums and Menin Gate which we visited on three different occasions along with Tyne Cot cemetery.

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to share it with us.

Re: My Le Jog Video 17 July 2018 14 Days - Cicerone

Great achievement and brilliant video of your trip which has saved me from having to watch/suffer Strictly Come Dancing. Would really like to to do the route before I get much older and just wondered if you pre booked your accommodation or found it on the day?

Cheers
Alan

It wasn't a race as there were too many other cyclists and hold ups to ride too fast and my time was faster than both of you. :D

I've got exactly the same chainset and mines the same as well and probably only covered around 1000 miles.
