I'm looking at buying a Suspension Seat Post and Stem for my Gravel Bike as an alternative to buying a Hardtail MTB
For the seat post there seems to be a huge price range - anything from £20 to £300
The Redshift Shockstop Suspension Seat Post and Stem have been recommended, and these will set me back and £400. Obviously much cheaper alternatives are available so are these worth the premium?
The Suntour SR SP12 suspension seat post is only £64 and highly reviewed on Amazon, compared with £240 for the Redshift
Does anyone have any experience of either, or using this method of providing suspension to a bike?
I'm also going to switch to tubeless and run at lower tyre pressures
I'm planning to do South Downs Way, Ridgeway and King Alfred's Trail

MTB Tyres Recommendation
I'm looking for some recommendations for my partners 29' MTB. She doesn't go far and it's mostly on a gravelly cycle track so weight/speed isn't really and issue. She is mostly concerned with not getting punctures. She's had loads of punctures from thorns. Tubeless isn't an option on her current wheels. Cost wise happy to spend up to £40 a tyre

Re: National Express booked!!!
I have looked into and decided on not using National Express for getting to an airport because they won't guarantee taking a bike or bike box
I might take a chance if I wasn't flying but if the driver says no that's the end of the trip before it even started
I spoke to National Express and they said the driver will take it if there is room
So bikes are the lowest priority. They will put everyone else's cases on the bus and if there is room they will take the bike
I decided I couldn't take the risk as if I couldn't get on the bus then I would miss the plane and that was the end of the holiday

Ahoy-hoy
What can I tell you?
I'm obviously cautious about how much of the detail we reveal publicly at the moment... we will be taking this to formal consultation with local access fora etc. very soon, but yes, I can confirm that we are working on a multi-day route in the South of England that will be doable either in one go or as a series of shorter trips (and that ties in well with public transport opportunities too)
What I can promise you is that this takes in some of the most spectacular landscapes, spanning more than five thousand years of history, and will hopefully link together with a number of other opportunities and long-distance trails in order to promote enjoyment of the countryside and rural tourism.
Does that sound like the type of thing you were looking for?
If would you be interested in test riding some of the sections? I'd be happy to work with you on the possibility.
I'm a gravel rider rather mtb, but keen to know more. I live in the heart of Alfred Country.
So as a keen touring cyclist I'm keen to know more and help if I can.

Re: Cable lacing
I will leave the cables a bit too long at the moment as its a new setup and therefore I might change:
- The stem length - I'm experimenting with a very short stem ATM.
- The position of the shifters on the bar. I'm using flared drops so the position has to be perfect
- The number of spacers under the stem. It's currently slammed but don't think it will stay there
- The angle of the bar. TBH This is unlikely to change or if it does is unlikely to have much impact
Even once I have these adjusted I need to allow a little extra length so that I can lift the bars off and turn for packing/flying

Re: Missing bit from Ultegra Brake Calipers
Couldn't find any part number on the caliper, but visually they look like these, and I thought they were 6700 so took a chance and ordered

Interesting to see the price difference between Ultegra and Dura Ace prices for what is essentially a bolt

Maybe, that's the question. I think I know what to do but cables and outers are expensive so I want to check before I start cutting

How long to cut the chain
Building a bike from scratch, mixture of new and old bits, but the new bits are chainset, rear mech, cassette and chain
Normally when I'm replacing a chain I compare it to the old one, but as this is a new configuration I don't have a guide
So, how do I know how long to cut the chain?

Cable lacing
Probably not calling this the right thing, but I'm building a bike from scratch and need a guide, video or hints and tips on how to setup the cables on the handlebars of a road bike.
Is there a correct way? What goes on top, what goes over, under, how long to cut the outers, etc
Also there seem to be lots of new ferrels, they have a small amount of cable coming out of them. There seems to be too many gear ones and not enough brake ones, and there is no setup guide.
The shifters are Ultegra 6800 on a drop handlebar road bike.
The frame has external cable routing
Any help gratefully received.

Missing bit from Ultegra Brake Calipers
I'm building a bike from a combination of old and new bits, and one old bit that I'm reusing are my Ultegra Brake Calipers
But I'm missing the adjuster that goes in the top. Not sure what it's called. The cable outer goes into this bit that then goes into the top of the caliper. Then you turn it to add or remove tension
Anyone know what this is called and where I can get one?
