Re: Touring in Sweden

Hiya, I'm currently pedalling from Nordkapp to Tarifa. Flew to Honningsvag with my bike, stayed at a good hostel there (Vandrerhjem), pedalled up to Nordkapp and now going South. Tonight I'm at a campsite in Kautokeino. Stunning scenery, if a little chilly but fine if you have the right kit, will be...

Re: Marseille - OK to ride through?

Agree with comments already made, I lived down there for a year and the centre is busy but manageable as long as you keep your wits about you. You do have to be a bit careful of theft/aggressive teenagers so avoid the burbs. The Callanques to the east of Marseille are beautiful, going to be a great ...

Re: Bike around Britain

I've updated my blog with a couple more Welsh legs, and a gallery of some of my favourite pics from tour. http://bikearoundbritain.com/2013/08/21/bike-around-britain-gallery-1/ Been back at work 3 weeks now, missing life on the open road! Ordered Alastair Humphreys round the world cycling books to g...

Re: Bike around Britain

North Wales was proving wet and windy, but Anglesey was nice. Reckon the Isle would make a good road race if you did a circuit, imagine there may well be something like that organised already:

Re: Bike around Britain

Hiya - with regards to the Akto, it's a superb touring tent, and I'd thoroughly recommend it. It survived all sorts of weather and didn't leak once. I had a pole break latterly but that's because someone fell on it, so no design fault. Sometimes the pegs are a little hard to get into the ground, due...

Re: Bike around Britain

Made it around to Ullapool post great stay at Cape Wrath. Had to get a replacement wheel on Orkney, a Mavic which isn't entirely suitable but limited choice up here. Spokes keep coming loose so becoming an expert at tightening and straightening, hope I don't bust it by over tightening though! Aiming...

Re: Bike around Britain

Thanks Birchwoody, going to be a while until I get around to Preston but will bear in mind. In Inverness at the moment bust blustery morning ride via Fort George and Culloden. Have experienced rain and sleet today, and headwind is fierce. Might cruise down to Loch Ness to camp this evening.

Re: Bike around Britain

Thanks Jon, reassuring advice. Also taking cable ties to secure panniers to bike when needed, but that won't of course stop someone from rifling through them.
