Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Your bike has always looked good in the pictures you've posted - and also 'in the flesh' at DFR and DFR2

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Viscount do seem to have a history of parts supply issues - frames were equipped withwhatever parts and transfers were available at the time of production - so the componentry on any specific model could vary. My Sprint, pictured earlier, has a Super Champion 27 x 1 1/4 front wheel, but a Sturmey Ar...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Yes, Whippet is correct, it's a Sprint from 1982/3. I have one myself and regard it as my best bike - it handles well and rolls very smoothly. The transfer has the signature of Ian Hallam. Sprints were made in 5-speed, 10-speed and 12-speed variants. Mine is 12-speed, and I acquired a crashed 5-spee...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

I've only seen the Viscount fork crown detailing on a couple of pictures here and there, likewise with the slotted BB shell. These two features, along with the rear derailleur mounting loop, the rear axle adjusters and the seat tube sticker denoting 'chrome molybdenum' tubing, are all that differ fr...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Montague - a wealth of interesting information from you! I agree with Martin that it would be great to see some pictures of the road frame. I note that you have also made one or two guest posts on the Viscount and Lambert Forum on ProBoards - a move which has enabled us Viscount owners and users to ...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Well, I've finally finished the Viscount Superbike, and this is pretty much a copy of a post that I put on the Bicycle Network Australia forum - Retro Biking topic. I got this bike a couple of years ago off a bike mad mate down here in Canberra, but don't have any history. It is known as the Viscou...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

One week ago we were all riding around Staffordshire on our Viscounts. Here's a bit of wobbly footage towards the end of the ride, captured with a compact digital camera in one hand whilst riding one-handed with the other! Starring Cusqueno, Stella, Velocipete, rmw, and Rod. https://www.youtube.com/...

Brilliant performance Kev!

Glad to see you're keeping up the racing tradition of our marque of World Champions.

Keep that Viscount racing!

Well done again.

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

A couple of pictures from this year's Death Fork Rally - DFR2.

The 'bike inspector' in orange is Busaste, the font of all knowledge of things Viscount, and the founder of this thread.

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

By 'eck, it doesn't seem like a year since our first Death Fork Rally!!! Great to see everyone again on Saturday, and good to meet the new faces. Wonderful bikes, lovely people, and enjoyable riding along quiet country lanes amidst the verdant English countryside - cycling doesn't get any be...

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

That very nice original looking blue/grey 'Pro on eBay that dropped off the radar last night, showed up with a 'buy it now' price on it of £65 this morning.(very briefly, I must add) Knowing how these things work, I guess someone messaged him and said 'do you have a buy it now price on this?' and h...
