Re: Best Cycling Shop/Repairs in Gtr Manchester

I've had good service from Trifit in Failsworth in the past.

I'm a trendy consumer. Just look at my ONE A2003 using Tapatalk

Shoe advice please.

I'm probably what's considered a new cyclist. I've only been cycling properly about 3 years or so. When I first started riding clipped in, I was using SPD Shimano M088 shoes with M324 pedals. However, I always used to get pains in the balls of my feet on longer rides. After reading about this online...

Re: Oats-so-pointless...?

I use a small cup of oats. Then 2 cups of skimmed milk, and a cup of water.
Into the microwave for a few mins then I like to serve with a big dollop (I love that word !!) of jam, all mixed in.

Garmin Explore 1000

I'm looking to upgrade from my trusty old Garmin 200. Over the last year or so I've decided that I want some decent navigation, especially as I'm planning a LEJOG next year. I'm no athlete, so the ability for connecting sensors is not a requirement, although it might be in the future. I like the liv...

Re: Where have all the end to enders gone?

I've been cycling just a few years; after a none cycling injury recently I've been off the bike a while and the weight has piled on. I need something to help me get my mojo back so I've committed to myself to do LEJOG next year. It'll probably be via b&bs, but I'm really enjoying the planning a ...

Re: How much do you take on tour ?

Thanks guys. I reckon I'd be hard pushed to strip 2-3kg off that. I suppose my bike locking cable is reasonably heavy, but I'm too paranoid to leave that at home. I could probably shave 1kg off my luggage, but at the wrong side of 15st myself, that's where I can best save some weight. I used this tr...

How much do you take on tour ?

Hi. I have just got back from my first cycle camping experience around the beautiful island of Anglesey. It was fantastic, although 4 days was just too short; I certainly think that I've got the bug for more. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1438636235.715982.jpg This is my loaded Croix de Fer. 15kg of luggag...

Re: Isle of Mull or Isle of Skye over five days?

Hi don1. You may already be aware that Killiechronan is very exposed in bad weather so check forecasts. I would also describe it as "primitive". The nearest shop is Salen so stock up before you get there. Very nice situation in good weather tho'. IMO the northern circuit is easiest done a...

Another vote here for the decathlon ones.

Re: Schwalbe marathon equivalent

What differences would I find compared to my Durano plus if I ran some of the Vittorias ? Would they be more comfortable than my Duranos ? They'll be more comfortable with little or no loss of speed, especially if you ride bad tarmac(which TBH is most of the UK). I'm currently running the Durano plu...

Re: Schwalbe marathon equivalent

Apologies for intruding on your thread fatboy. I've always ridden Schwalbe, whether it be Marathon plus or Durano plus. I'm currently running the Durano plus 28mm on my Croix de Fer. I see lots of praise for the Vittoria Randonneurs or the Hypers on this forum. What differences would I find compared...

Re: Isle of Mull or Isle of Skye over five days?

I'm off to Mull at the end of the month.
I've only got 3 nights to spare so just a flying visit.
I think I'm going to base myself in Killiechronan camping, and do some day rides around the island.

Re: New to discs. What am I doing wrong?

Hi all. Thanks for the replies. My main issue is them just not being very 'grabby'. The rear particularly. I took it into my bike dealer on Sunday to take a look. I got a call today to say that the rear brake had a fault. The seal near the piston had failed. I had noticed greasy dirt on the undersid...

New to discs. What am I doing wrong?

Hi. I have a 2015 Croix de Fer with TRP hy/rd cable actuated disc brakes. I've never had a disc brake bike before so it's likely the performance of the brake is down to my ineptitude of setting up/maintaining them. It's meant to be an excellent brake, so I don't think it's a quality thing - I'm sure...
