Re: Velodyssee Eurovelo 1,. September

Snap! I am retiring in April and a trip in September sounds enticing so I am interested. Do you intend to carry onto Santander for a ferry home?

Perhaps you could give a few more details about when and which ferry route to France you intend to use.

Re: Santander to St Malo

Have just established that I am able to take some time off work in early August and am interested in joining you for some of this trip although I will be heading for Roscoff. Could you supply some more details i.e. when you are intending to go, from which port (Plymouth or Portsmouth) and anything a...

Re: Cycle trip 5/6 weeks from St-Malo/ starting 2nd May

Have you decided on a route? I will be coming up through France (roughly - Toulouse, Niort, Nantes, Roscoff) between 27/05 and 1st week in June. Could meet up our routes allow.

Re: Santander to Barcelona

Sorry guys I should have been more explicit about my intended route. So here it is:
Reinosa
Miranda
Tudela
Zaragoza
Caspe
Reus
Barcelona
In other words go to the source of the Ebro and follow it. I assume a climb up to Reinosa then flattish to Caspe.

Has anybody cycled this route? If so what was it like? Am planning to do so in May.

Re: Mayenne River Cycle Path

I cycled this path from Angers to Ouistreham last year. As I recall the path went all the way to Pont d'Quilly. There were hilly roads to Thury Harcourt and then a path to Caen and on to Oueterham. The path was all ok for a loaded bike. Try looking at 'la velo francette' which covers the whole route...

France en Velo

I am riding this route starting 27th May. Has anyone got any experiences of the ride. I would also like to know whether anyone used the TGV to get back. If so did you have any problems. From what I can see from the SNCF website, you can use the TGV with a non folding bike as long as you book ahead.

Day rides around Crieff

I am looking for some advice about day rides (50-70 miles) in the Crieff area in early September. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Re: Long cycle tourers - you feel like you just want to go h

I think I know just how you feel when I have toured alone as I have had similar feelings at that stage of a tour. I have returned home only later to regret it. I suggest you read 'The Chimp Paradox' by Steve Peters about mind management. I have found this really useful. I think that psychological pa...

Bayonne, Lourdes, St Gaudens, Toulouse

Am planning to do this route in May (cycle camping). It seems a moderately demanding route but not a too strenuous. If anybody has done it before I would welcome any advice.

Re: Trains FROM Narbonne to Cherbourg

Ok so you could go from Narbonne to Carcassonne and on to Nantes. This would mean you use none TGV trains that will take bikes. I imagine that you would also be ok going from Nantes to Rennes and onto Cherbourg as this isn't a TGV line. Travelling by train with bikes is ok as long as you avoid TGV t...

Re: Off to the Spanish Pyrenees

I may cross your path as I will be taking the ferry to Santander arriving on 19/05 and then cycling along the coast to Bayonne. I then intend to go on through to Lourdes and on to Toulouse. The plan is then to cycle to Bordeaux, via Cahors, take the train to Nantes and the last part of the trip will...
