Re: Road Lights

I hope this won't be a 'just bloomin google it' moment ... please be gentle with a dynamo-novice. I have been offered an old ish Shimano hubbed wheel, with the 'HB-NX30', on an open pro with some life left. I'm told the hub needs repacking, but works still and has plenty of miles left as a generator...

Re: B67 or Flyer

Oh no, your bike is being couriered to you? By the time it arrives it'll have 'one less car' stickers all over it, covered in road crud, ghetto style homemade fixed gear conversion with No Braks and the bars will be chopped down to 8" wide. Bad luck.

Re: Wrong message on front page of Cycle

As a newly-joined member of CTC (though I have been on this forum on and off for a while) I would like to chip in: Cycling seems a pretty good organ. I like it, and have managed to read almost everything in it. I do not read cycling mags in general, as the ones I have seen are either really focussed...

It concerns action on London's ongoing problems with LGVs killing cyclists. T...

Re: BB spindle length?

Great info, thanks. Didn't know about the switch from 112mm to 114.5.

Yes it's just possible the new sealed one I got isn't the 115mm. Will be checking when i take it all apart again tonight.

Seems I may have found what I'm after on another forum. Here's hoping.

Thanks, again.

Thanks! Good to know the clearances on yours worked OK with 700s. I will pursue that route, found a wheelset that should be good to go, and trying to lay my hands on some decent Suntour derailleurs at the moment. and will probably be asking chris for his shifters in the near future.

Couldn't resist posting a pic of my '76 Olympic on here. Really ought to get some fat tyres, but I love them skinny.

Thanks to Jane and the workshop for great work on the renovation.

I have an old 93 super galaxy frame which has been steadly updated over the years. Now whilst it may be a cuople of years older than yours I'll quite happily measure a few bits like the spaces between canti bosses if it'll help inform you about what will fit/work on yours. I have an old set of bar ...

Ok I think I'm going to go with cantis. I've been told the levers I currently run for calipers (let's keep it cheap!) should work OK. Depending on the wheel size thing ... Can anyone give me a rough idea how far from the rim outside edge the canti boss needs to be? I have a 27" wheel, as well a...

Ok thanks to you both^^ for excelent Help! So the upshot is... the frame may well be built for 27s... eek. Course this would mean I could use the caliper brakes I currently have, i.e. keeping it cheap - ish, only thing is 27 rims seem to cost quite a bit, if they're new or in decent nick. Has anyone...

Any advice on building a basic 'retro' (obselete) tourer?

Hello All. I humbly ask for your advice on buidling my first tourer (I've been fooling around on the fringes for a wee while now). I'll give a general picture, and add queries in brackets. Give me ANY tips you care to, and I'll be eternally grateful! Thanks. OK: I have just picked up a bargain Dawes...

Hello If you're breaking that many spokes, and carrying things, you might have some luck finding hub gears with 48 holes, perhaps? I imagine some cargo/tandem applications would mean somebody might, somewhere, have them (Holland? Denmark? Dear Old Blighty?). If you fancy selling those wheels on the ...
