Re: Knee protection please
Maybe if pads aren't comfortable to wear on long rides, get whatever pads will offer most protection against the falls that are occurring, then wear the pads and intensively practice whatever it is causing the falls, then hopefully the pads can be removed or comfier pads that offer less protection can be worn on long rides but hopefully the number of falls has been reduced.

Back in the 80s someone stole my brother's bike lock from school but left his bike.

Re: Reporting vehicles parked in a cycle lane
I'm not sure there are any Traffic Wardens in the UK anymore, only Parking Enforcement Officers or whatever they are called. Quite often when there is bad traffic at a junction or past roadworks, I often think it would be easily sorted with the deployment of a Traffic Warden or two.

How about using wax crayons to add a bit of colour?

I'm surprised they're not just paying electric vehicle owners to be the storage facilities. Just have an app where you can manage what minimum charge you need for your car, assuming most people are usually just doing similar journeys each day, then the grid can manage excess and shortfalls by either charging, or discharging, all the vehicles plugged in at any time.

Nathan van Hooydonck retires with heart problem, which it appears may have contributed to his crash.

Re: General racing chitchat 2023
I was thinking when Kuss first took the lead that it may have been easier for him to defend the lead, rather than his team trying to beat Evenepoel with Roglic or Vingegaard, who were both behind him I think at the time, now with Evenepoel gone, it seems less likely Kuss will win, as his team don't have to defend his position as much. It's one thing letting a teammate take a stage win to thank them for all their help but I doubt his teammates will be so willing to not challenge him for a grand tour win.

No mention of it on this ITV page either, they will have the Tour of Britain, which I may make a trip out to see somewhere around Manchester.

Was great to see all the different disciplines together as one big festival of cycling. Some unbelievable skills on display.

I record them so don't really use catch up unless I've had problems, I can then skip the adverts. Doesn't it let you just click to watch the next episode, or to carry on from where you've left off? Does it show you which episodes you have already watched? Or are you just trying to find the more interesting stages? I agree it's a pain on catch up having to watch adverts, then as soon as the episode starts playing, realising you needed the next episode, then having to watch, probably the same adverts, all over again.

It would maybe risk next year's tour if he were to go for the giro next year, with Pogacar being such a close rival, unless they both go for it. Would be good to see him try though. Maybe someone new will come along, as seems to keep happening recently.
Can't help think of Cavendish and the stages he would have had a chance in this week. He did appear on the Geraint Thomas Watts Occurring podcast but they didn't really mention the future. He did say his hip was quite sore, they'd needed to transplant some bone to his shoulder/collarbone.

Would be good if an eccentric millionaire could put up a prize for winning all three grand tours in a row. Then maybe the best riders would be contending all three.

If anything like today happens again, Adam Yates might have to leave him behind to protect third from Rodriguez, so it's possible, though maybe unlikely, that Yates or Rodriguez could end up second. Or maybe first if there's a major twist.
