Re: Why wouldn't you wear a helmet in car or walking ?

Actually considering the number of people walking head tilted down looking at their phones a helmet for pedestrians might be worthwhile

Re: Insurance for charity rides

I volunteer for a charity that uses their own insurance for events, last year I did a miniride under that insurance and the charity was happy that I said to the small group that helmets were a matter of choice (think 8 out of 13 wore lids). How that would stand if it was a 50+ rider event I don't kn...

Re: Charity rides aimed at irregular cyclists & perceptions

Just read section 1.5, that does seem different from what I've been told but without the pedelec I'd be barred anyway because I doubt I'd be able to do more than 5 miles.

I'm a trendy consumer. Just look at my SGP311 using hovercraft full of eels.

Re: Charity rides aimed at irregular cyclists & perceptions

And how do you feel about being banned from any charity fundraising ride listed on the British Cycling sportive website? Are electric bikes banned from sportives? Why would that be so? Yes, they are (the notorious British Cycling Non-Competitive Event Guidelines require it, section 1.5) and I've no...

Re: Charity rides aimed at irregular cyclists & perceptions

I'm one of those people who needs the assistance of a pedelec to be able to enjoy cycling (dicky ticker and two very dodgy knees due to health problems that won't get better), so for me 40-50 miles is my upper limit. And how do you feel about being banned from any charity fundraising ride listed on...

Re: Law for cyclists to comply with the same rules as driver

Right, saw this earlier: http://bit.ly/1MERmlB 'Goading' cyclists??? should these guys be as accountable for their actions as motorists? Has anyone ever been goaded by a cyclist?! [emoji38] There was that "Pratt fall" video where the cyclist chased down a driver. To me that cyclist showed...

If you lose weight, can you beat the diabetes?

It can be controlled purely by diet, whether that can be classed as "cured" I don't know. My GP said the new way of looking at things has increased the number of false positives which doesn't help

Re: Pedestrian pushes cyclist off bike and into traffic

If you mean giving him the finger there is no firm evidence she did, maybe she pointed at him when asking not to be knocked off as his response is "don't you raise your finger at me" In the video he said "You wanna put your finger up at me". There is no evidence she did, but the...

Re: Pedestrian pushes cyclist off bike and into traffic

Because a cyclist was assaulted nothing will be done. If a person is assaulted whilst not having a bike on their person then a different story. The video was released by the police . Hardly going to do that if nothing is to be done, in fact they fact it was released by the police shows something is...

And if the article is correct he was convicted of careless driving (even if a death occurred) rather than causing death by careless driving. In law those two are very different and that incident could've been what change and choose a life of saving lives.

Re: Helmet Cams Are Inflaming Road rage

I agree, some are either looking for conflict or blow up big time when something happens. Only a minority of cyclists fall into this group but they are a very loud minority.
