Re: Royston Woods - A Safer Way - Who has actually done it ?

I regrettably had to bail from my JOGLE attempt due to an injury combined with adverse weather in the Cairngorms, I was only two days into it, the Berriedale Braes were the only significant climbs that I did. The A9 started to get busy at Golspie, so I guess the comments about this earlier in this t...

Re: SPA CYCLES Elan

I've bought an Elan with a trekking triple as opposed to the 105 chainset that is standard. I love it!

Re: Channel to the Med

I cycled Dieppe to the med last year. We did a one way car hire with a single overnight stop. Airport to Airport gave by far the cheapest rates, so we did Montpellier to Paris Beauvais and rode home along the Avenue Vert, to return to Newhaven, good for us as we live in Sussex. I'm doing the same tr...

Re: Lowering the Gearing on Dawes Galaxy

Evening all, a further update. I have fitted a pair of 105 shifters to allow fitting of a bar bag. I have upped the front inner chainring to 24 (two teeth less than standard), As the Tiagra cassettes are no longer made in 12 - 30, rear is now on the HG500 11 - 32. This now a pretty good setup for me...

M2M Rhone Velo to the Loire Velo Help Needed Please

This summer myself and a couple of riders from my club wish to ride a M2M from Montpellier to Dieppe. We are riding unsupported on standard touring cycles and none of us are natural climbers, so our route is following the already established major river velo routes of the Rhone and the Loire and fin...

Re: Lowering the Gearing on Dawes Galaxy

Here's an update, I'm 8000 miles on my lowered gearing. I decided to swap the inner chainring for a 22 tooth item, it works fine 99% of the time . It does drop off the front sprocket occasionally, usually when I've left the shifting till too late. I feel that it's quite a noticeable drop in gearing ...

Lowering the Gearing on Dawes Galaxy

I'm doing the E2E in May this year, training is going well. I have bought a Dawes Galaxy, I love the bike as it is so conmfortable, however when fully laden, I am struggling up some of the steeper East Sussex climbs such as Ditchling Beacon. Is it possible to end up with a gear 10% lower than the cu...

End of MAy Early June JOGLE

A former work colleague and I are E2Eing via the JOGLE route staying in B & B's or YHA, training is going well, flights to Scotland and Bike couriers arranged, as are the first 2/3 nights B & B, but the more I look at the various routing options the more confused I get. Is there a link to a ...
