Re: Downslink Closure - March 2024
Just been informed by WSCC
that the closure has been delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. The works should now go-ahead next week and the closure will be put in to place. As always, the notices will be positions at a large number of locations along the Downslink.

Re: Downslink Closure - March 2024
You can't really see the problem from the path. The work is for 'emergency revetment and surfacing works': revetment is what stops the bank falling into the river where it's scoured on the outside of the bend.matt_twam_asi wrote: ↑12 Mar 2024, 3:40pm Thanks Squeaker.
Just by coincidence I rode the section from Bramber to Shoreham for the first time yesterday. I didn't notice any obvious problems with the riverbank as I was more focussed on how high the Adur had risen.

Downslink Closure - March 2024
See notice: works to repair the river bank!
I'd suggest using the Coombes Road between the South Downs Way and Shoreham toll bridge, rather than the A283 - 10 Mar 2024, 11:39am

If the wheel arch gap translates to long stroke 'French' suspension then it's what you need for the current state of our highwaysCowsham wrote: ↑24 Feb 2024, 7:57pmFor most people this is all you really need.UpWrong wrote: ↑24 Feb 2024, 5:08pm A rather flattering preview of the new Dacia Spring coming to the UK soon, https://www.electrifying.com/reviews/da ... ing/review
"new" because all the body panels apart from the roof are new, new interior and more driver aids.
But still weighs less than a tonne, whereas the rival Citroen e-C3 is 1.5 tonnes. Also the Dacia claims a top of the league 4.5 miles per KwH.

Fitting an outer bash guard sorted my (then) new 1x8 build, but try the existing front mech first!

Re: switching to tadpole 26" or 20"?
Based on my experiences with a rear suspended 20" ICE 'S', likewise ICE 'T', and unsuspended 26" ICE Sprint, I'd want suspension with a 20" rear wheel, but I've never been convinced by the added complexity of suspended fronts on a tadpole.

Extra weather protection, yes, but extra side-wind sensitivity too, which combined with higher speeds can get too exciting

Not silicon spray either, IME: use proper cable grease for cables! More reading (and opinions) hereCyclingBlob wrote: ↑5 Oct 2023, 8:04pm No GT85 on the cables - Got ya, thanks, I'll clean the cable again soon after buying silicon spray or similar.

Re: Active Travel
I'm not: IMHO choice is a good riposte to the 'war on the motorist' rhetoric and something many folk get excised about.Jdsk wrote: ↑1 Oct 2023, 9:18am

I'm surprised that they chose choice rather than health or harm reduction for the headline.
