Any tips on selling used bikes: what was your experience or any guidance on getting paid securely please

I've tried, unsuccessfully so far, to get information on insurance cover ( against theft ) and other general terms and conditions from a bike hire company in North Mallorca. When we go there on holiday we would like to hire good road bikes. My concern is over potential loss and cost if the bikes are not adequately insured and I would be held to pay. There has been some discussion on this but any specific help much appreciated
