Re: Spa Cycles (Harrogate)

I urgently needed bits for my Tubus pannier rack - not stocked anywhere else. When I rang Spa they said buy them on line, don’t bother with the £5 next day delivery, because they’d make sure they were dispatched ASAP under normal delivery to reach me next day. They did! Excellent customer services.

Exposure Lights: Repair Service

It's not immediately obvious from their website but Exposure Lights do an excellent repair service - even if a product is outside a 2year warranty. https://exposurelights.com/warranty I dropped my 10 year old Maxx - D front light, dislodging the backcap and seal, and breaking a wire connection to th...

Re: SPD cleats removal

My SPD cleats had been fixed on my default winter shoe - Exustar Stelvios, for over eleven years: well and truly rusted on! Also very worn, (unlike the shoes), with the leading edge of the cleat less than 1mm in thickness. My solution to remove and replace them? Follow Brucey's advice, but use Viaka...

Re: Airnimal Joey Explore

I’ve recently returned from a trip to Sri Lanka with my Joey Explore Drop - using the Airnimal case. Because I packed lots of bike gear in the case it weighed over the permitted free weight limit of 23kg. and I paid for 5kg. of excess baggage. However it possible to pack just the bike and minimal ge...

Re: saddle creak

The saddle creak on my B17, (10 years old) turned out to be a broken tension pin and nut assembly - the pin had sheared where the nut assembly fits into the tension shackle resulting in a lack of tension, causing the saddle to dip, spread, and creak. I'm awaiting a replacement pin from Brooks which ...

Re: How difficult it is to find a stolen bike?

I recovered my stolen bike - stripped of its mudguards, rack, etc, from a bike stand outside my local Tube station. A local locksmith kindly lent me a pair of hefty bolt cutters to cut through the chain-link lock, which I was happy to leave on the pavement, all with the agreement of the Police. Resu...

Re: Enigma Bikes

I needed a spare dérailleur hanger for my Etape. Enigma advised emailing with photo of existing hanger - if before midday it would be in the post that day. It was - and I hadn't even paid for it, until I checked that it had been dispatched! That's good customer service in my book. :)

Re: Airnimal Joey

I'm in London so a bit far for a test ride! But most stockists should let you have a good try. I've toured with my Joey Explore Elite Drop (2010) in Morocco, Albania/Macedonia, and Holland. Good for Morocco on the non-asphalt roads, and especially useful having disc brakes for long descents - especi...
