Re: Can a cyclist go past a No Entry sign where it says "except emergency vehicles" or "except buses"?
It might be worth contacting the road authority. I received a lot of verbal abuse from motor drivers for cycling in a particular bus lane which offered a short cut. I understood that bus lanes automatically include taxis and bicycles. I quized the roads authority, the county council in my case, and they put up some blue signs to clarify the rules. End of problem.

Yes that's odd. I found it last night but this morning it says " details not found". However,Re: Christina Mackenzie's crash

Interesting, I read that as MV65DSO which returns as 'no such vehicle'.

Trial date notified. What Thirdcrank said about Scottish contempt rules still applies.

Re: What's the best camping stove?
I worked in Outdoor Education for 15 years. When alcohol gel was first sold it was heavily marketed as "safer" than meths. An office based halfwit at our local authority insisted on us using it. The calorific value of the gel is a lot lower than meths, many kids never had a hot meal. The "gel burner" is just a thin metal cup, you can achieve the same thing by taking a sharp knife and cutting off the bottom of a Coke can.
After a year of whining from the kids about the stoves not working some of The Youth started setting fire to spoon fulls of the stuff and flicking it at things. Gel use swiftly banned. We used the leftovers as firelighters.

Re: Extinguishing a Trangia
Option B would be to replace the trangia burner with a speedster one, like wot I described on page 10 of this previous thread;
viewtopic.php?p=1694241#p1694241
Any adult with a normal set of lungs can blow out a speedster and there is no danger of an accidental spill.

Re: CUK Scotland
Thanks for that. Today's issue is that ScotGov have quietly opened a Consultation on amendment of the Land Reform Act. As far as I can discern the only contributions so far have been from landed interests who ain't going to have the public interest at heart. None of the user groups on the National Access Forum appear to have been consulted. The consultation runs until 25th of Sept,
https://consult.gov.scot/agriculture-an ... sultation/
It's mostly about tracing land ownership and subsidy, but questions 28 and 44 are pretty open ended. I would have thought that "Landowners in receipt of any public subsidy must be able to demonstrate compliance with the Scottish Access Code." would be fairly clear public statement.
