Gore-Tex road shoes
Hi I am looking for some Gore-Tex winter commuter shoes but they need to be able to take look pedals as the bike being used will be used with Look Keo pedals at other times and I don't want to chop and change. So far the ones I have found on different web sites (even the boot style ones) tend to get...

Re: Frozen front mech
By way of an update. The old mech never could be freed. Now have fitted a band on sora 9 speed mech. Works fine with my veloce 9 speed levers and shimano 9 speed rear gearing. I need to tweak the High setting as its going too far and if i am not careful will take the chain off. Just a tweak tonight ...

Re: Frozen front mech
I have ordered a sora now. Did not realise newer mechs would still work with my shifters. For 12 quid its a no brainer.

Is there much benefit in going ultegra 6800? They are only another 4 quid but is it worth it?

Re: Frozen front mech
Its soaking now for a couple of days. Will check it in a day or so. Out of interest here. The existing shifter is a 9 speed veloce. The mech is a shimano of similar vintage possibly rx100. The campag shifter is thumb shift to drop from big to small ring. Its multiple clicks to tighten the cable suff...

Frozen front mech
I have increasingly had issues with my front mech, my setup is a hybrid that has been good for over a decade, front Veloce 9 speed levers, and front shimano exage mech. Now for a few weeks the mech has refused to move from the outer to the inner ring without a few taps of the foot. washing and lubin...

Re: 1" steerer ahead question
Hi Brucey and everyone thanks for the advice. The current headset is a Ritchey Logic. This will be from about 17 years ago. The top part of the headset is plain black, the bottom part near the brakes is a gun metal grey, and going a bit rusty. Don't know if this helps with understanding what the cur...

1" steerer ahead question
Hi I have a Bob Jackson Merlin 631 with an ahead headset and 3T stem. I have had to start replacing some parts now that have corroded. Have replaced the stem bolts after a bolt head pinged off. Now have replaced the handlebars also. Next thing to look at is the headset which is a bit rusted and unsi...

Re: Chain replace?
thank you. its another learning curve for me all this so sorry for basic questions. When I remove the freehub what is the best way to clean it, then afterwards from the Rose pictures it looks like the pawls are greased rather than oiled? No guarantee this will solve it and may end up replacing the f...
