Re: Are expensive gear cables really all that?

My Surley troll was my first bike where the cables were fully enclosed in their outer cable from shifter to derailleur. It's made a massive difference to their performance. No idea why bikes have so much exposed cable to collect crud and reduce performance. Got to have a greater effect on performanc...

Re: Brooks saddles – making sense of the range

Interested in reading of people retiring their old Brooks saddles. Not sure if members are aware that Brooks do offer the service whereby they will recover your saddle. In 2013 it cost me £55 incl p&p to have my titanium swallow saddle recovered - compared with £220 for a full replacement. Servi...

Re: Pre softened Brooks Saddles

To those ditching their old saddles, Brooks will recover your saddle. I had them replace the leather of my swallow and it was significantly cheaper than buying a replacement saddle.

Re: Rear derailleur hanger for a Dahon Speed D7

Hi Brucey, That 's exactly what I'm looking to obtain. I understand there the aluminium framed Vitesse D7 can use a traditional style hanger that's readily available. Unfortunately the speed d7 cannot. Hense the special hanger supplied by Thor which does utilize the mudguard eye as a securing point....

Re: Rear derailleur hanger for a Dahon Speed D7

Agree, I do need the special part that currently is out of stock. I've been in contact with Thor but no indication of when it'll be next available. Would welcome hearing from anyone with one as I could have a copy made if I had a template.

I've tried CH White but no joy.

Re: Rear derailleur hanger for a Dahon Speed D7

That looks like it'll work with a quick release. However the speed d7 utilizes the mudguard mounting point and wheel secured with nut. Think best option is for a new wheel which will take an 8+ cassette and go for one of those gear hangers.

Rear derailleur hanger for a Dahon Speed D7

I've be having a few problems with the gearing of my Dahon Speed D7 and looking at the possiblity of upgrading the components. Currently 7 speed grip shift with neos derailleur. I've a box full of suitable components but I'm unable to souce a Tern/Dahon rear hanger adapter and a front adapter either...

Re: 26" On/Off Road Tyres

My commute is a mix of on and off road. I'm currently running marathon supremes. However it'll be back to the landcruisers come the Autumn. Just wish Schwalbe would make a lighter, more puncture resistant version with this thread. Reflective side walls would also be a big bonus for the winter commut...

I haven't bought one yet. Decided to wait until my birthday in November. I was told that the next batch of frames will have the dropouts spaced at 132.5. At the time of my enquiry, delivery was expected October/November.

I have two smart lights side by side on my nelson longflap. Use a rubber band for extra security. Also use useful knobs front and rear. Again fitted with smart lights. Highly recommend these.

Have a look at the Truvativ range of posts. I have a Stylo and they use a similar arrangement. Best seatpost I ever had for adjustment was the raceface xy post. Wonder why they stopped making it.

The Specialized Hardrock used to be available with a rigid fork. If not new would be a good s/h buy.

Re: Handlebar bags

I've been very happy with my Carradice Super C bar bag. Capacity is 5 litres. The klickfix fixing works very well and the bag has been waterproof in very heavy rain. I don't use the the map cover but it's easily removed and replacements readily available. You might argue that it's too big for your n...

Re: Bike carrier for new Renault Clio

Unless it's of the high mount variety any obscuring of light or number plate will be a traffic violation and potential fine without additional lighting board. Kill joy reply but a friend was fined recently. I think it is now a fixed penalty notice of £60.
