My thoughts exactly - It looks so much like a brake lever pivot pin.

Re: Buying a new bike technique?

Spend all summer discussing the bikes that the pro's ride and how much they cost. By the time the end of season sales arrive in the autumn, almost anything you want to buy will sound like a real bargain!

Interpersonal communication

is an odd thing, isn't it? Only this morning I asked a lorry driver, who seemed to want to get to know me and my bike very well indeed, if there was anything I could help him with. The answer, consisting of a single sentence, managed to included a reference to both fornication and male genitalia! ;)...

Re: Handlebar repairs

Replace them! I had a pair fail on me a few years back LESS THAN A MILE after descending a hill on my commute where I would regularly get to over forty miles per hour. How much warning did I get before the right hand bar detached? About two pedal revolutions!  I did not crash, but sti...

At 50p a guess you took a stab at my finishing weight. I can reveal now that I lost a little. I was weighed in at 12 stone 11 and a hal...

Re: calories burned calculator

On Monday having supposedly burnt 3200 calories over the weekend and having calculated that I ate no more than 2000 calories on each day I had put on 3 pounds. The piece of chocolate cake I ate was so thin I could see through it. :( A woman of my height, weight and age's basic metabolic rate is abo...

Re: Is this level of insanity commonplace?

In the OP's position I would take primary after the first attempt to make them overtake me rather than try to pass. I would be in the primary position before the first attempt to pass, and then pull over If I was holding them up unduly. This approach took me a good while to be comfortable with, but...

Furthermore, it’s not true that 90 km/h is the most efficient speed of all vehicles. Most modern vehicles have peak fuel efficiencies at lower speeds, sometimes much lower. (Largely because a great deal of effort has gone into reducing pumping losses at low throttle settings (e.g. by direct injecti...

Re: Unfit and in the saddle

5. Do not underestimate how much time 5 miles will add to your working day, even if it is a relatively short commute it will still add time to your day and fatigue..... That's five miles NOT sat in the car, the office or slumped in the sofa. This is a big positive! I have an eight mile commute, it ...

Re: When is the strain on a chain greatest?

When I last lent my bike to Marcel Kittel...lol It's a good question! Last time I checked, f = ma (force = mass * acceleration) It doesn't matter what gear you are in, merely how fast you are accelerating and how fat (like me) that you are. All the gears do is change the force applied to the pedals ...
