Re: Going Tubeless - What Size Tape??

How about cutting a strip of paper until it fits the internal profile of your rim to fit as per the previous comments then measure it and get that width tape ?

Re: Old, old Specialized Rockhopper

Most of the old Specialised catalogues are here on the Retrobike site if you're still interested, you can often tell the year easily by the colour scheme. I've bought a couple of 'immaculate' old bikes in the past, you still have to strip them to regrease hubs, replace dried out rusty cables etc, mo...

Re: E bike on Leeds to Saltaire canal cycle track ?

Hijacking this thread a little – the last time I was out that way, the towpath was ok to excellent from Leeds as far as Keighley, after which it deteriorated dramatically. I've heard that some or all of the stretch from Keighley to Skipton has recently been upgraded. Any confirmation? Riddlesden to...

Very enjoyable, thanks R2. Their review of their bikes and choices of components after a year on the road came up today on my feed,
very interesting.

Re: Are new chain links tighter than old ones?

I just tried splitting a link on a spare piece of this same chain, it does require a bit of force and parts with an audible crack, as you are removing the edge of the peened end of the pin as it's forced through the side plate. The tool I used has a chamfered end on the extractor pin, it may be a Pe...

Re: Long vertical/height adjustment cantilever & v-brakes

Here's some better pictures of the Tektro Tri-Aligns. I don't know why the post mounts have different plastic pivot blocks left and right (second image), one has flats on it and the spring anchor tang does not protrude through.I wonder if that's the spring balance adjuster some how ? The arms are 70...

Re: The Wheel Fanatyk Jobst Brandt design tensiometer (photos)

This video came up on my youtube feed this morning, Jim Langley checking the build quality of some newly purchased wheels, it shows the Wheel Fanatyk meter being used @9min 39seconds in . Seems like an logical and easily understandable list of things to check on newly bought wheels, worth watching t...

Re: Brooks saddle, a newbie question.

These covers from Clas Ohlson are a good fit on a Brooks and cheap (3.99), they are backed with a sort of white rubbery waterproof coating, I sometimes ride with mine on even in the dry, excellent in my opinion, they make the saddle less slippy. I don't mind either way. https://www.clasohlson.com/uk...

Re: Carradice SQR Bag Support failure

A bit of a thread revival this but it might help someone out. I bought a couple of SQR's second hand with a bag a while back and had the same problem as the original poster on this thread. Though I was using the block and frame on a bike with a rack supporting most of it's weight, the bag still work...
