Re: View from the bridge

It's easy to take bridges for granted, they can almost go unnoticed until there's a problem, like the Hammersmith one mentioned above. In contrast to the sophistication of the skew bridge, I happened upon this bridge made from about five pieces of rough hewn stone , I wonder how old it is ? The stre...

Re: View from the bridge

View of a bridge really. I've noticed this 'skew' bridge on the Leeds - Liverpool canal just south of Chorley where a railway line crosses it at an oblique angle. I was amazed how the curved stones were carved, they appear to change direction in the middle of the span. The bridge was built in 1838, a...

Re: Know anything about this Orbit Tandem?

Anybody written a history of the brand? Foxyrider? Birmingham frames were made when? There's some interesting stuff about Orbit in Frank Clements' autobiography, 'A Bike Ride through My Life', there are some snippets from the book at this link. https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=1-lahBrmzx0C&p...

The raised number will be the part number of the BB lug I should think, I found the exactly the same one this afternoon on a British Eagle Touristique I'm working on at the moment (I read it as L8 01 the other way up)! 'offroader', I missed the word 'driveside' in my reading of your original question, my measurements and picture are of a non driveside cup, and are of no use to your current problem, my apologies, good luck.

Re: Are BB-UN71 cups interchangeable?

I bought a BB-UN55 a while back and for some weird reason they have a lot of clearance between the cup and the BB shell, I tried to use the old BB-UN71 cup but it would not go over the new '55 shell. So the '55 cup should fit over the '71 shell but it will be even looser. A good way to mess up your ...

Re: A positive thread

I saw this Mandarin duck by the canal today, it was hanging out with a female Mallard and standing it's ground against the male Mallards. It has a tweeting rather than a quacking call. A spectacular bird. $matches[2] I also saw some Fallow Deer, the males sporting some extravagant headgear. P1110751...
