Re: Shimergo - latest news

Having decided to go shimergo I have to decide which freehub body to get to replace the existing campy body I did try a Shimano freehub body off my MTB but it didn't seem to fit.The through axle couldn't be tightened. Will try again but does anybody know how to decide which body to get? My hub is a ...

Re: Ribble

I think there is unusual demand for bikes everywhere now.I imagine bike shops don't keep a lot of stock in house due to the cost outlay. I have just ordered a Ribble and I am fully aware that I won't get the bike till November..that 2 months My local Halfords have hardly any bikes. My cycling colleag...

Re: Effort or Speed?

Don't get hung up on the electric option. My mate in the 60s thought that anyone who didn't ride fixed was a wus. I am sure when "double clangers" came earlier the same feelings were made. As life and technology progresses the whole point is to keep doing what you love for as long as possi...

Re: Effort or Speed?

Like 2vmx I contemplated getting an electric bike for a long time. After visiting the Cycle Show in Birmingham in July 2019 and seeing the latest offerings I have finally and after much procrastination ordered a Ribble.Such is the demand I have to wait until November to get it. In some respects I agr...

Re: Knee Replacement

Having read as many of the posts about TKR as I can ,I just wanted to share my own experience to date. I had the operation in Dec 2017.Previously (about 9 years before) I had a High Tibial Osteotomy which I think made the operation a bit more difficult as most of the metalwork had to be taken out be...

Re: Road bike Choice.

Looks like 3 impressive road bikes. I would go for the Ribble but without the Di2 ....unless you really need the superfast gear change
(Alternatively you could buy my Kuota Kharma off me for half the price....spec very similar to your choices !!)

Sticky Stuff

I tried to remove the temporary transparent plastic(?)chain stay covering that manufacturers stick onto the frame.I have peeled it off but it has left the sticky backing on the chain stay and it is difficult to remove without damaging the paintwork. What is the best product(to buy or home made) to d...

Re: Campag Shift Lever

Fantastic guys. Thanks for your responses especially johnb. Some answers are so simple. It was the silver pin which needed pushing to the other side.

By the way what is the QR position for?

Campag Shift Lever

I have Campag Veloce 10 speed shifters. The right hand shift lever doesnt sit snugly directly behind the brake lever as the left one does. There is a gap of about 1.5 cm at the shift lever end.
Is this normal or is some adjustment necessary?

Re: Schwalbe for Brompton SL2x

Thanks for all your replies Just to clarify.I damaged the side wall of the rear Schwalbe Stelvio.Although the tube was undamaged I was uncomfortable riding with it like that. I decided I wanted a more robust tyre so I fitted the Marathon. With the mudguards the tyre was touching the mudguard when it ...

Is anybody up for Istanbul - London in 2009? I've done some research and am thinking of flying to Istanbul and cycling back. I'm male, 60, retired. I've done the trans-am and some touring in Mexico. I need to be in England last two of weeks in June and first two weeks of July, so can go any time ei...

simple question on this subject

Will I be able to fit the new hub gear to my SL2x without any problem except rebuilding the rear wheel ?

I know it may be considered silly due to the weight issue but I really need a few low gears
