Re: Who should we be boycotting?

Palm oil Enormous areas of wilderness are being destroyed to produce it Until it was "discovered" a few decades ago we did well enough without it. PO is used in Scottish Oatcakes, what did granny use back then? Home-made butter probably, +1 Quite unnecessary IMHO, it is transported great d...

Re: Fighting the cold

Traditional buildings were right, the old houses in Wales with thick walls that stop temperatures varying so much In the summer people spent time in the Hafod, summer house, on the hill In winter they stayed in the Hendre, old house, down below Modern buildings are so flimsy, they often have to be r...

Re: Porridge: love or hate?

Porridge is especially good in summer, it goes down so easily
I make it fresh mind, best not to leave it standing overnight in hot weather, might go mouldy

Mind, porridge is great in winter too

Re: most valuable/missed tool loan

the other thing that gets my goat is folk bringing back your tools BROKEN.... The one that sticks in my craw is that I loaned out an expensive adjustable reamer to a friend. "If it starts to bind, under no circumstances turn it backwards," I said, "It will definitely break the cuttin...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Very good question. It's hard to see any positive way out of this mess. No matter what happens, a large number of people are going to be very unhappy. We'll probably get an egalitarian brexit where everyone, whichever side they are on, is unhappy with the result! :? A compromise is best when all pa...

Re: Fighting the cold

Maybe Petes aircon was working properly (it was years ago), just cooling and moving the air a bit, instead of modern systems that make the air feel awfully artificial, and often still too hot as I posted recently My impulse is to open the windows so air can circulate, apparently that is not allowed :?
