Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Another twist (but I've no idea how likely it is to succeed as I cannot believe the Government would not have been aware of such legislation Lawyers to try to stop Boris Johnson putting Brexit deal before MPs ... Jolyon Maugham QC said he believes the agreement, due to be debated in a special parlia...

Re: This photo ID thing: Are there allegations of voter fraud that needs to be addressed through these changes or is this just a solution to a non-problem whilst making voting more restrictive and adding discouragements? Ian Fraud accounts for very little. There's a class of people for whom photo I...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

....I see latest polls dont seem to have indicated much of a change in attitude? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-50043549 ..... One complexity to all these polls is the %age who did not or will not vote. 30% of the electorate did not vote in 2016 so is their answer to any "what do you w...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

According to some reports it's looking like any deal is down to the DUP. Representative of almost no-one. Certainly no-one ok in the mainland. None of us can can vote for its members. It doesn't even represent the people of NI and it's leader is not at Westminster. And people said we should leave t...

Re: Remainers Angst thread

Citizens of the UK living abroad can vote in UK elections & referendums for the first 15 years of residence abroad, but not after that. I tried to find out more. I wanted to know how that largish group voted but it is not shown in any results table I can find. Eligibility was gained presumably ...

Re: Flu Jab - side effects?

Not doing flu but I've got JE, Hep B & rabies on Fri. I don't get reactions to Hep B nor rabies but never had a JE before - is it a bad one?

That said I'll have to check my bank first as JE is really expensive.

Re: Thomas Cook

a nice job if you can get it ? Cook's boss gets a £500,000 bonus https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-50053594 But that sort of thin happens so often. e.g. the much loved Jamie Oliver who so many felt sad for when his companies went bust earlier this year. Except: Jamie Oliver paid himself £5.2m des...

Re: Diplomatic Immunity?

I wonder if the aspects of the rules on Kosher and Halal slaughter constitutes religious discrimination. Why can Halal slaughter only be carried out by a Muslim (and Kosher slaughter only carried out by a Jew). I feel discriminated against as I'm an atheist and I (probably) feel discriminated agains...

Re: Diplomatic Immunity?

OK so we're all ok with Halal butchery ????? As long as the animals don't smell of chlorine ??? I don't eat meat. I'd rather that no, or at least many fewer animals died to feed humans, but most Halal slaughter includes stunning the animals prior to slaughter. To be Halal, means the animal must be ...

Re: Phone with google

The phone is brand new. I will try podcasts on the iPad. But when I away I only want the phone with me. Two separate problems, I'm afraid If it's a newer device there are far better apps (in my opinion) than Apple's built-in podcast app, but they may no longer be supported on older devices (depends...
