Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

So his rock and a hard place, completely of his own making , is significant and unavoidable. I would question that. Membership fo the EU has been rumbling away as a political question ever since we joined. Nigel Farage and a sharp increase in European immigation brought it to the boil. Johnson's re...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

An underlying concern about what is happening in Westminster is how it is illustrating how stupid our PM is, how he is totally unable to see a way through anything. His bill got passed but anybody with a half functioning brian cell would have seen that Parliament was going to be unhappy about it be...

Re: Flu Jab - side effects?

Actually this is off thread since it is about the side effects of the flu jab -on which, strictly speaking you are unable to comment. Quite right. I too would not have the flu jab and have quite strong views about it, but this thread was not offering that discussion so I have desisted. ... B...

Al, you are quite correct about a fair percentage of the Lotus Eaters from Albion, they set up little Britain Enclaves, avoid both learning the language & meeting the natives! I say this from sure knowledge because my brother is on of the ilk. But at least he & his wife have taken out Spani...

I just blocked it. I was blocking a load of other tracking stuff from this forum so added the logo (I really don't like such things so block them).

An aspect of Brexit I'm unsure about where I stand (well, it's partially Brexit related) British pensioners in Europe struggle to make ends meet, committee told ... Jeremy Morgan QC said retirees in the EU living exclusively or almost exclusively on British pensions have already suffered a decrease ...

Re: Hi vis and reflective jacket

How about a hi-vis tabard (the sort that you can breathe through the fabric quite easily) over the top of any jacket of your choice? .... I find wearing a (Hi-vis) tabard makes me a lot warmer/hotter (and I don't bother to do the front up either). I actually use one more as a way be be a bit warmer...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

The Constitutional Reform and Governance Act (2010) requires any treaty be laid before the House for 21 days before it can be ratified. The Brexit deal is such as treaty 1. Looks like we took back control back in 2010 and made our own laws :D I've read that some vote to suspend that law is part of ...

Re: Any chance of adding strikethrough?

Strikethrough is not provided as standard with phpBB3, and I'm not going to add it I've added it now. The custom tags go into the database, rather than code, so easier to keep. It was not me asking for it but I do think it a useful feature - as you have well illustrated in your post. Many thank...

Re: Any chance of adding strikethrough?

We would have to do a custom phpBB code for that (it would look like what Psamanthe posted), and everything that we do custom has to be re-done when we upgrade to the next version, so we generally avoid that sort of thing. The easiest thing to do is to use a font generator, like https://fsymbols.co...

You should be able to use the [s]incorrect[/s] BBCode tags (not tested but can't see any reason why the would be disabled or not have been installed. Useful for a clearer change particularly when others have quoted a post and you've gone back and changed it (either<s>incorrect<s> or <del>deleted</de...
