Re: Vaping?

I think I dislike the smell of (some) vaping more than cigarettes. Some is quite revolting. Encourage people to vape rather than smoke is fine, but that does not mean it has to be allowed in public places. People can happily vape at home. They don’t need to inflict what are sometimes revolting smell...

Re: Close Pass Initiative - follow up?

I was at the AGM where the close pass motion was rejected, I don't think they have changed their stance. They were clearly not in favour of legislation and as far as I'm aware still aren't. What are they in favour of? Because their mats are reaching a tiny minority, their campaigning seems to be ha...

Re: Close Pass Initiative - follow up?

Shall we put this to bed straight away! The Irish government did a study this year of all countries and found no evidence that a distance passing law has increased safety of people on bikes. Not one single countries close pass initiative with a minimum passing rule/law has worked, without continual...

Re: Muzak in (food) stores, at stations etc: love or hate?

One thing that surprised me was that in the few German campsites I used they play piped music (I assume the German equivalent of Radio 2) through the toilet blocks. Can’t say it helped me in any way. Nondescript unoffensive pop music. Through all the toilets, 24/7.

Re: "Best" panniers for cycle camping

I appreciate Ortliebs have been rejected, but as comment as others might read and seek advice from this thread: What I love about my Ortlieb Rollers is that they are normally sensible full. But as I get near my camp site I can stop off at a supermarket and buy a load of food and supplies. Non-roller...

Re: Who agrees with Boris?

BoJo is rich and influential Many people voted for him I often wonder about the Many people voted for him”. My parents always vote Conservative yet it would be difficult to find any issues where they agree with their Conservative MP. They vote Conservative and not for the individual standing in the...

Re: Insurance for a trip >100 days

Depending on your curcumstances, also consider your own house & contents insurance. Most policies I’ve had put a limit on the number of days the property can be unoccupied. My current policy is 60 days, but other policies I’ve had have been down at 30 days. I’ve recently had to extend the cover ...

Re: Who agrees with Boris?

It is impossible to answer the question 'Who agrees with Boris?' because Boris has no beliefs, and what he says changes from moment to moment. Johnson is an unprincipled liar. Everything he does is calculated - albeit often badly - to be best for himself, and nothing he says should be taken at face...

.... though I had a cycle map with knooppunt system nodes marked, and was planning on following LF2/LF4, I found it easiest to just make a note of intermediate destinations and follow the signs for those on the cycle path... What I’ve seen some people doing is to have a strip of paper about an inch...

The final outcome will be clear in a few decades Until then all is speculation ... If you jump off a cliff the outcome is speculation until you get to the bottom. Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Hello there, I see some folk are back at being rude? "The ordinary thoughtless wo/man on the street who voted for it"! To disagree is one thing, to be offensive whilst doing so is another. The UK did not move from Europe (EEC), the truth is Europe (EU) moved from the UK! Hijacked by empir...
