Re: Road Worlds

We were walking around the town centre circuit today, and on the finish line at the end. Many of the riders looked totally wrecked, some having to be helped back to the team coaches with the appearance of hypothermia. A truly epic race, with the majority abandoning before the finish.

Re: Ear syringe

Yes, it’s more creeping privatisation of health care. I have to have my ears cleared of wax every few months. As a result of this new NHS policy I had to visit Specsavers at a cost of £35 per ear. They do use better equipment though, vacuum instead of a water jet.

Garmin type gadgets, or anything electronic really. I like to keep things simple and cheap :D

Re: Sneaky mobile speed camera van - do you warn people?

I never warn a law breaking driver of a speed camera van. I do often flash my lights or make a slow down gesture if they are clearly over the limit and there is no camera ahead.

Lib Dems gain hundreds of seats. Tories and Labour suffer huge losses. Brandon Lewis's takeaway is 'voters just want brexit done'. John McDonnell's takeaway is 'Brexit - sort it'. Words fail me... One particularly gratifying result The installation of a Lib Dem council in Jacob Rees-Mogg’s constitu...

No, I voted remain and still would. The majority want a people’s vote, that is now clear.

Re: Bath final day Air pollution consulation

We often go to Bath as we live quite close. We park in Batheaston free car park and walk in to the centre via Bailbrook or the K&A towpath. It makes a nice circular walk. Either that or take bikes on the rack and do it that way.

I’ve certainly never done that. New chains come well packed with grease and should not need further lubrication for a while.

Re: Paying for a bike in cash - why?

I can see his point about not giving out his address in advance. You could be in cahoots with a burglar who would raid his house knowing he wasn’t there at the time of his meeting you. Suspicion works both ways.

OK thanks, don't like the sound of Zefal etc. + at nearly 80 years of age changing the tyre is not an option for her! It needs to be clean and easy to use. Is this the Vittoria sealant referred to? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/vittoria-pit-stop-tyre-sealant/?lang=en&curr=GBP&dest=1&sku=53603...

Vitoria seal & inflate works well. I’ve had it in one tyre for over a year after a puncture and still good.

Re: Car Indicators - Is it me?

Not just you. I find day running lights on modern cars tend to diminish the visual impact of indicators, plus many drivers don’t even bother to use indicators properly. BTW “right of way” doesn’t actually exist, priority is the correct term.

Re: Shimano M324 SPDs maintenance

Don’t forget to unscrew the pedals from the cranks, clean the threads, regrease, and refit not too tightly. Do this every couple of months to avoid them seizing in the cranks. This applies to other components as well, like seatpins.
