Electric cars that are charged by fossil fuel generated electricity are a lot more efficient and cleaner than petrol/ diesel powered carsal_yrpal wrote: ↑21 Sep 2023, 3:56pm Leasing cars? Thats not green at all nor is buying electric ones (largely fueled by fossil fuels, and as for the batterys largely made in China. ).
All that CO2 spewed out by the car industry and the notion of changing your vehicle every 3 years has got us where we are now. China still builds a new coal fired power station every week to satisfy our bad habits. Tidal wave of cheap Chinese electric vehicles built using fossil fuels looming on the horizon.....
Foot well and truly shot in...ignorance is bliss.
As Rishi said please explain how ordinary folk can afford the £5000, £10000 or £15000+ needed for that heat pump (which probably wont keep your home warm anyway?) But, give it a few more years development and practical effective heat pumps will hopefully be developed. In the meantime pragmatism and honesty are all we have got.

ps as for my bum, at least I dont speak through it like some here
Get up to date with China's ongoing plans to move away from coal, its been a long time since China was building three coal powered
stations a week. They were needed to modernise their depressed economy and they are now pumping billions into new cleaner technologies .
Making up three prices for heat pumps isn't necessary as you could have found out with a few seconds effort.
Like you said ignorance is bliss....
