Re: Photo storage websites?

Users of the various storage sites should carefully read the T&C's. Some demand worldwide usage rights with no payment to the copyright holder (you) in perpetuity, even after you remove the images / text from the site. Some T&C's state that you assign copyright to the site owners. This is ex...

Looking for a lock

I'm fed up with my pre coiled cable lock. It's too strong a coil and is very difficult to poke through the frame, around a post, back through a wheel or two. I think it's an Abus (spelling?). I need a strong, light, flexible cable with a combination lock, able to be coiled up in a bag but easy to ha...

Re: Sleeping Bag Advice

I too dislike mummy bags. I've not seen one but these are wide but heavy and maybe bulky but has a zip each side so probably good in warm weather.

Re: Hilleberg Nallo GT tent

If it ain't broke don't fix it! If people live in a non democratic country they've little say in the matter and it's no reason not to buy the goods they produce. The same goes for low pay and bad conditions - if people boycott the countries where this happens it's hardly likely to improve the situa...

Re: Hilleberg Nallo GT tent

I had a quasar for at least 15 years. Great tent but hardly roomy. Inner pitch first which is difficult in driving rain. No space in the porch to cook without risk of fire. Low entrances and a long reach needed to pull the door zip up/down. Stable as a rock though. My one stood up to scottish winter...

Hilleberg Nallo GT tent

I'm thinking of buying this tent. In the photos it looks as though when you open the outer door fully it opens far enough onto the roof that rain can easily get into the inner tent. Seen here: http://www.climbers-shop.com/2569/products/Hilleberg_Nallo_3_GT_Tent.aspx I know that there are many Hilleb...

Re: Wiggle CTC shop discount

I don't know for definite as I haven't ordered anything from them yet, but I would expect you have to put in your membership number at checkout. AFAIK, CTC login gives you Briefings, Routes and Newsnet Archive, not access to CTC Shop. Anyone know if I'm right? Thanks Mick. The wiggle CTC shop is fo...

I'm being incredibly dumb here but just how do you get the 10% CTC discount at Wiggle when ordering something?

Re: Rohloff pedalling resistance

I've owned my Rohloff hub for about 3 years and find myself riding it less and less. Why - because it seems so much harder to pedal to achieve a given speed. The weight is not the issue, I,m about 120kg fully kitted, so a few grams is nothing. To me if feels as if I'm having to overcome something o...

Re: Bike lights in the daytime

If visibility is poor I'll put my lights on, just as I would if I were driving my car. I also put my lights on if the sun is bright but low in the sky, as I don't want car drivers to miss me because the sunlight is in their eyes. Again, just as I would if driving a car. However, it does strike me t...

Re: Helmet use post Richardson death

However if the case for helmets rests on personal anecdote and nothing else then the case for them is weak. We know most brain injuries are simple falls and road crashes involving car occupants and pedestrians. ..... My own professional body, the BMA thinks they should be compulsory as does the Roy...

Re: Helmet use post Richardson death

Posters seem to think that a helmet will save you from any major head injury. They won't but they may lessen the severity of one. I've got a bad brain injury which would have been lessened had I been wearing a helmet - any helmet! I'm aware of rotational injury being the major cause of brain injury,...

Re: Apple Macbook Vs Windows Laptop

After working with a Mac for about a year & my laptop needed replacing, I decided to go for an iBook G4. Although I'd got to almost HNC on Windows I was amazed how simple the Mac was to start up, as everyone else says. I don't think I'd go back. My only problem would be, if I bought a second- h...
