Re: What might be the effects of the rapidly increasing motor vehicle fuel costs?

I think we can safely say the party's over and the high fuel costs are likely to change every aspect of society and they way we live

Re: Are you dieing for a KFC?

No I don't eat any meat and the world would be a better place if everyone stopped eating meat or reduced their meat intake. The meat industry is a major factor in climate change.

Re: Libraries, public, decline of: DDC 020.336

Most libraries will go as councils seem to be going bust all over the place. The big ones were fantastic places and I used to use the photocopier and got vinyl records out as well.

Re: The top of Britain: we love Scotland!

According to recent news reports parts of Scotland have become tourist traps and the roads and services can't cope with the huge influx of visitors especially on places like the Isle of Skye. Its a shame as I remember it as a quiet peaceful and beautiful country

Re: Cycling hater

I used to run a stall in Cardiff and it was the rugby matches and other events at the stadium that kept the shoppers away from the city. It would be a good idea to have had the stadium built outside the city. As for the velothon and marathon they are only one day a year and there is a huge populatio...

Those high powered hand driers in supermarkets or motorway service stations that sound louder than a fighter jet taking off.

Re: Campsite fees

Many thanks for your replies. I live quite near to Borth so will go there and its a lovely area. We used to camp in a place called Parrog in Newport Bay, Pembrokeshire in the 70s and is still there and there is a good site at Newgale. We used to stop at the Stade Municipals in France which were grea...

Re: Scottish Highland and Islands - busy?

If you go to the east coast of Scotland, the borders and Dumfries and Galloway it is very quiet and just as beautiful. Skye is very quiet in the Autumn and the Highlands as well and not so many midges about.

Campsite fees

How much can you expect to pay for a small tent, 1 or 2 persons and a bike or a car on an average campsite. I have checked on various websites and not found much under £10 a night and £8 is about the cheapest I have found.

Re: Lifespan of a washing machine

It seems that spare parts are getting more expensive and new machines are very cheap so people will throw a machine away even if it has a simple fault and get a new one. Also the error codes often don't tel you what is wrong, parts are often not interchanchabe from make to another like you can with ...

Lifespan of a washing machine

I see the average lifespan of a washing machine has reduced considerably in recent years to around 7 years so are you better just washing your clothes in the sink or dolly tub and wringing them out with a mangle and hanging them out to dry.

English votes for English laws

Seems like only the English MP's will get to vote on laws only affectng England and who can disagree with that. I guess they will have to some pool tables and an amusement arcade in Westminster to occupy the Scottish and Welsh MP's while the debates only to do with England go on.

Re: GB v Johnny Foreigner

You seem to see loads of Dysons on the carboot sales but the best ones were the old ones such as the Electrolux 550 or 502 series and the Hoover Juniors which were light weight, energy efficient, easy to service, attractive and beatifully designed objects and cheap to buy
