Re: Rebecca Twigg

Always amuses me how threads develop into endless hyperbole and speculation about a subject, it is very sad that Rebecca Twigg is homeless does the forum have to continue to speculate as to the why ? All I can say is she struck me as super nice person when I had a brief chat with her (in '92) when I...

A sad story, one of the USAs greatest cyclists...saw her ride in the 1992 Olympics.

Re: Freedom for England

Is there anywhere you do not know? As I did not come down with the last shower of rain, and was fortunate to travel much of the UK from an early age - there's few places in this isle I haven't been. But there are places elsewhere I don not know. You've been to London...nonsense. Are you ever seriou...

Re: Freedom for England

What does she know of London, who only London knows? I bet most people in Strathpeffer know more about London than most Londoners know about Strathpeffer Knowing Strathpeffer reasonably well I'd wager more people living there have been living there a good while, but what about this term Londoner ; ...

Re: "Rude villages/towns/roads youhave cycled through

Of course, trust the French to have got this thing better organised - there is actually an organisation grouping together lots of towns and villages in France with odd-sounding names. Most of the funnies are only really comprehensible to a French-speaker - although there's this village: https://i.p...

Hilary is knowledgeable and is now getting on a bit, however he is an enthusiast not a businessman, bear that in mind and you'll be ok - don't expect Wiggle or Chain Reaction levels of service.

Re: "Rude villages/towns/roads youhave cycled through

There are quite a few in Lincolnshire - Wasps Nest Butt Lane Fanny Hands Lane Tongue End. There are many more that are simply amusing and eccentric. In my second-home county of West Sussex there is - Cockshut Road Balls Cross Cocking Juggs Road. Like Lincolnshire there are many more, and a lot of bo...

Re: Non-cycling books

Having read Pirsig's book many times, first when I was at school there is, in my opinion, a better one that explores similiar themes - The Perfect Vehicle by Melissa Holbrook Pierson (pub 1997).

Re: Malega, Spain & Carpignano Salentino, Italy - Solo Cyclist

I'm a Canadian looking to do some travelling in Spain and Italy over the next month or so and I wanted to reach out to the community on the other side of the ocean and get some insight on safety (I'm a younger female and I'll be travelling on my own), any great groups/shops to ride or rent with, or...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I have an ex-colleague who is of the firm opinion that the £350 million, about trade deals etc, were not lies, or campaign promises, but merely "misjudged opinions" that were blown out of proportion by the remainers. Seem to recall a bus with that message about the NHS on it's side...so n...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I am extremely weary of the will of the people refrain, I think it is now irrelevant anyway - three years on...best part of. In addition since when was the government (any government) really interested in democracy - just look at the inequalities and injustices ? With regard to the referendum, one p...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I wrote this along time ago on this thread that we were once the envy of the EU/World as possessing a Rolls Royce Parliament, alas we now have a Lada one (with all due respect to Lada).

We rightly deserve to be the laughing stock...I'll turn the lights out.
