Re: Glasgow commuter cyclists - report the fault
South Lanarkshire does! I commonly report pot holes and usually within a month they are dealt with, depending on the pothole depth. I understand once it is reported someone has to go out and assess it. Once assessed it is prioritised. I think the reporting system is great. Let's face it, the roads department can't be everywhere and we all need to take some responsibility to make things better within our communities

Re: Garmin 810
Thanks for all the replies.
I just pressed the stop and switched off the unit at lunch times to make sure I didn't knock it. And then I always remembered to press start again! (Wonder how long I'll keep these fresh memory cells!)
All is good. My tour went well and it was all recorded.
Thanks again for the advice.

Re: The right shoes for touring
I would agree regarding shimano being narrow. I have wider feet and I love my northwave shoes. I have them in carbon road shoes and also as touring shoes. Just did a tour with my touring (mtb) ones and they were great.
I'd highly recommend them. Good luck! And remember you can always send them back if the fit isn't correct

Re: Steep hill: Walk vs cycle
Well I'm on my tour at the moment and when I think one hill is tough along comes another making the first hill easy! I've not walked so far. However have a mammoth hill to do when I get off the ferry 2moro. I'd prefer to ride than walk. Beside sometimes it's hard to unclip when ur going really slow so that's my reason for staying on the bike!!

Hi Al, I eventually managed to find your blog about your trip! Made me feel even more excited. I've heard about the hill as you get off the ferry at port Askaig.... Is it really that bad? I believe there is a distillery just to the right of the ferry so i might put off the hill for a stop wi a dram first!

Think it'll be more of the distilleries visited although I'm sure I'll have the occasional piece of cake [emoji6]

I've packed my panniers. I really should unpack them so things can breathe as such but i just want it start!!
I'll likely not be saying that when I hit my first hill at eaglesham moors!

My first proper cycling tour
Hi
I am venturing on my first proper cycling tour on Monday! I've been reading lots of posts on here which have helped me greatly. And I've also been inspired to start a blog. Given ive never blogged before I don't promise high quality but just thought I'd share it... In case anyone can't get to sleep of an evening...

Re: Garmin 810
Anyone else have any ideas... I'm not keen on the auto pause.... Just stopping at traffic lights could set it off.
Mick F you seem to be knowledgeable of all things Garmin?

Do you mean the wee button at the bottom on the right that looks like a play button that you press to start?

Re: Garmin 810
Another wee question about my lovely new Garmin 810.... Can you pause it mid ride... If so how? If I stop for lunch I want to pause my route but don't wanna save my first half as separate from my second half of the day if that makes sense?

Re: camping pet hates
How you lie inside your tent and it sounds like it's chucking it down outside and you put off going for a pee.... Hours go by and the rain sounds awful.... Eventually you need to give in and get up only to find the rain is a mere drizzle. But just sounds worse than it is on the tent

Re: Bike touring in my lecture
I think you might need to try and stage this desired photo.
Altho I'm going on a tour next week and may end up looking homeless... Although I'll be solo so won't have anyone to take my pic!
Good luck with your idea!

Re: New Bike help please Budget £500-800
Decathlon did do the CTW a year n a half ago... I got my first bike through the scheme thru them!
Opened up a new world to me! Off on a week tour in a couple of weeks! (On my new ridgeback voyage.... Not thru the CTW)!
